Fans support Maroons
The Maroons' fans can give themselves a cheer after placing first in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs.
The Maroons averaged 1,493 fans per home game, the best in the GOJHL post-season.
“The crowds just keep getting better and better,” vice-president Karen Szekesy said. “I can't say enough about the support the Chatham community gives these boys. And their play reflects how the fans cheer them on. They just keep going and going.”
The Sarnia Legionnaires were second in playoff attendance with 1,321. The Western Conference champion London Nationals were sixth with 805.
Despite winning their third straight Sutherland Cup, the Caledonia Corvairs ranked only 14th out of 24 teams. They averaged 475 fans per game.
The Maroons were third in total attendance with 8,959 despite hosting only six playoff games. Seven teams played more home games.
