St Thomas looks like they will hit prospect camp with all staff in place. With a younger team last season spots will be at a premium. Darren Kelly returning is a huge addition.

The Stars could be a tough team to beat next year. Ron Horvat always gets the best out of his players and they should have an excellent nucleus coming back. I really enjoyed watching them play last year.

Horvat heavily invested in youth last year taking 98 players and adding in some very good 97 players. Looks like one of the 98 players is ticketed for the OHL next season. He will add in 2 top end 99 players this year and some very good 98s this season. There is still a good selection from London and the EMC zone that will get a good look now that they don't fall under the 16 year old cap. St Thomas and London both have the potential to be a strong contenders for the next few years with their young base of players from last season. The question is how many will St Marys commit to at their camp the week before St Thomas? Sarnia and Chatham ran early camps and have both commited cards to some highly skilled forwards from their prospect camps.

On paper, St. Thomas should have a good team next year. As Ogie pointed out, they have a lot of young talent from this season. They've only lost 4 to graduation, Johnstone to the OHL and potentially Moniz, I’m not sure what the report on him is yet, and they will most likely pick up some more young’uns for next season.
But in the 7 seasons that Horvat’s been holding the reins, the Stars have only made it past the first round twice. In ‘09-10 they made it to the finals, as a 7th seed, and in ‘10-11 they were Conference Champs as a 4th seed. In the past 4 seasons, they haven’t made it out of the first round.

still has been in the finals twice in 7 years with a championship. He is a good coach who has got results in the past. When your rebuilding its tough.

St Thomas has had reasonably good success as a small market team under Horvat. The new assistants are well connected with younger players coming into the league. This should help the Stars attract better players with the changes to the import rules.
