Have never seen Caledonia play, going to wait until I see 1 game then make my prediction.
In my opinion though Vipers and Flyers will both be in tough.

That's kind of going out on a limb, no?

Going out on a limb is definitely a lot tougher than jumping on the bandwagon of a winning team who had the best record in the regular season.

I say the same.

It will be interesting to see how Elmira fairs with the long ride to the VOLLmer centre.

Caledonia in 6
Interesting to see Caledonia on that big ice surface.
Elmira - 5
I saw Elmira play a few times this year there a big team.
I thought Reinhart was so so but he's been outstanding in the playoffs.

I think the larger ice surface will make the Corvair offense ever more lethal than it already is. Some opponents may wish to schedule games against them in a phone booth.

The Western Conference is probably the most competitive overall as witnessed by how well London played in the first two rounds. Unfortunately the most powerful teams are in the Mid-West and Shoe. Predictions:

Elmira over LaSalle: 4 games to 0

Caledonia over Leamington: 4 games to 0 (with a possible 1 win for Leamington)

Good luck to all !

I didn't put it in my preview, but I think Elmira vs. LaSalle will be a battle of who can kick the net off more, Reinhart or Battisti.

The goaltenders and special teams will have to make adjustments on the bigger ice surface.
The St Catharines series was like playing in a phone booth lots of hitting loved it.

I haven't seen much of the west but from what I have been told and heard about Elmira and LaSalle I will take Elmira in 5.
If Cal. can play there corner game and sneak in the "D" from the point for a shot it will be close on the big ice. I still pick Cal. in 6

Nope, I'm not counting them. I just happen to know that both of them kick it off a fair bit.

Looks like a rough night for the Vipers goaltending, I heard Lasalle was right there but didn't have the goaltending to compete. Just from what ive heard from a few people. I will go Sugar Kings in 5 hoping I am wrong tho. Looking forward to seeing Caledonia on Friday night.

Battisti knocked the puck into the net with his back. It was funny to watch.

It was quite funny. I turned to my buddy and was like, 'did that just bounce off his back into the net?'

My opinion mid-way through the game was that LaSalle needed to start hitting them. Use the physicality of the West and see if it gets them anywhere.

It'll be interesting what tomorrow night brings, but I'll have to check it on PS as I'll be in Caledonia.

I just fell off my chair :D . Way to go RG...... glad to see you are making the rounds out of the West during the playoffs this year (Stratford, Caledonia etc.). Beats sitting at home and following all the games on the computer every night like some people do.

It's not the same 'watching' a game on Pointstreak or watching it on the computer/tv compared to being there. Honestly, I don't watch sports on tv, you only see what the camera wants you to see, whereas if you're there, you can catch the behind the play stuff that the camera doesn't.

But, I've been to 23 games this post-season, 83 total GOJHL games this season. So pfft to your comment a couple weeks ago about how I quit paying attention once my boys are out.

Well, I guess that's why you're the "Queen of the GOJHL". As for the "I quit paying attention once my boys are out", you've admitted to doing just that in the past, including last year. Glad to see it's different this year.

This is the reason why I'm the Queen.

For those of you that may not be aware of what this is, that's the OHA Blueline Magazine with an article written by yours truly on the GOJHL. Be sure to pick up a copy at an arena near you.
