Seems like a good hire, someone with a strong hockey background.

Rocket Girl, where is the reshaping of the GOJHL. I'm hoping you are right but where is it and is it happening for the 24/25 season ?

Last spring there was talk about the league heading into a new direction, going from 3 conferences too two is reshaping in your mind but not mine. The GOJHL has been a door mat for the OJHL for years( you should know that) and the powers to be were looking at different options for the league to operate under beginning with the 24/25 season. To date, there has been no news that changes were coming for the upcoming season.

Re: New Commissioner
Again, shouldn't you know what's going on? I would think a person in your position should have more information that I do.
I've heard the rumours, I heard them all of last season. I thought the BIG announcement was going to be it, but it was about the re-alignment. I am trusting the process and hopeful for something to come out in the coming weeks.
But hey, I'm just the Queen, I'm not in charge.

You stated that the League continues to make announcements in the re-shaping of the GOJHL. Two minor announcements have been made, Craig replaces Tim as commish (good choice) and the conferences are reduced too 2 from 3. Where are the announcements you say the league continues to make in the re-shaping ??? I do have a pretty good idea on what's going on and thats why I'm asking for information to confirm our progress.
You may trust the process but at this point I don't, action speaks louder the words.

I wouldn't call them minor announcements...re-aligning in going from 3 conferences to 2 is a pretty big deal...and getting a commissioner, replacing Simmons with a guy with vast more hockey experience is another positive move.BeenThereDoneThat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 2:18 pm You stated that the League continues to make announcements in the re-shaping of the GOJHL. The league has probably had a better off-season this summer than in recent memory.

Re: New Commissioner
I do call them minor for the following reasons.
1--Going to 2 Conferences has been talked about for years.
2--Craig has been basically been filling that role for months .
Major Announcements would be, follow up on the projects the league announced earlier,
1--Go independent
2--Affiliate With BC Tier 2 (that has already gone Independent)
3--There have been other affiliation rumors that have neither been confirmed or denied.
The league is not treated on an equal playing level with the OJHL, by the OHA and OHF. When GO players are signed by the OJ before Sept, the GO receives a locked in amount of money. When a player wishes to return to the GO, the OJ can ask for whatever amount it wishes and it always far, far, far exceeds what they paid for the player. I don't mean to rant but things like this really piss me off. Outside of the OHL , there is not a better development league in Ontario and they should never let themselves be treated in that or any other similar manner. If your wish is to have the GO be a development league for the OJ, keep cheering the small things. If you want something better, keep yelling, screaming and kicking until somebody takes you seriously. You cant get to second base if you keep one foot on first.

Re: New Commissioner
With all due respects..you need to have ball$ to make decisions like the ones you are proposing. This league has been consistent with one thing...making one dumb decision after another.
You want the respect from the OJHL..that will never happen! What you need to do is stick it to the man!! I don't know anything about the new hire. Hopefully he has the strength and mindset to put plans into actual action for actual results.
I can't see any affiliation with the BCHL. What is in it for them? They are still taking great players from all over the continent despite the best efforts of Hockey Canada and their bully tactics!
