London vs Sarnia??

Post by Goaltender »

Guess it depends on who you believe whether the Nats vs Legionnaire’s game is on for Wednesday night.

According to GOJHL website / schedule game is on. But according to Duarte:/ LFP:

“The London Nationals are hoping if the OHL can compete under elite athlete status, then the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League will fall under those same guidelines as a development pipeline. They provide players to a lot of major junior clubs in-season.

For now, their Wednesday home game against Sarnia is postponed.

“We want to get these kids on the ice and our mandate here is to set them up to help them perform,” London owner Paul Duarte said. “If it gets to the point where it’s back to 50 per cent (of capacity) or a 1,000 (cap), we would still be good. We were having great turnouts at our games and close to that 50-per-cent mark.

“That would help us not be in major financial distress.”

If Duarte says “ no “ but the League says “ yes “:does that mean the Nationals will have to forfeit the game. Hmmmm, story sounds familiar but yet again the GOJHL has not said a word. Even though the message from the Province indicates unless the GOJHL is an “ elite league” that municipal arenas will close as of midnight tonight.

Anybody hearing anything?

JANUARY 5, 2022 – The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League announced today that the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) is pausing all in-person programming in conjunction with the Province of Ontario’s return to a modified Step 2 of the Reopening Plan.

As a result, the GOJHL was mandated to pause its’ regular season beginning January 5th, 2022 through January 26th, 2022, which also includes the GOJHL Showcase. The league is currently working on finalizing various contingency plans to prepare for all possible scenarios that the Covid-19 pandemic, omicron variant and Ontario Government restrictions could present post-January 26th. These scenarios, including potential plans for a re-scheduled GOJHL Showcase, will be released to the public once confirmed.

“We are following the mandated direction from the Ontario Government and will announce all potential scenarios once finalized by our members. Completing our full 2021-22 GOJHL regular season and playoff schedule safely is our top priority,” said GOJHL Commissioner Brent Garbutt.

“We wish the Ontario Government would continue to review the many sport organizations, including the GOJHL, who have implemented comprehensive safety plans and mandatory vaccinations for the opportunity to have our athletes continue to work towards their professional and educational aspirations by being designated as an Elite Amateur League.”

The GOJHL continues to wish everyone to stay safe!

Those "contingency" plans should have been in the works prior to you even stepping on the ice this season so you were prepared to face it head on. Instead, you were concerned about 1/2 visors! Who didn't see the latest round of lockdowns coming? The minute they started talking about them in September...the writing was on the wall!
