Wow the end of an era in Kitchener! Can't say I won't miss the cold Kinsmen arena though. Best of luck to them in Ayr.

Curious as to what the purchase price was...my guess nowhere near the $150k the league was dreaming of last year with the Collingwood fiasco!
Re: Ayr Centennials Purchase Kitchener Dutchmen
Someone else will probably start another team in Kitchener, probably not right away. This will benefit the Waterloo and Cambridge attendance

All reports seem to suggest the league is trying to contract teams, not add.
Unless a team goes up for sale, I don't see it.
Re: Ayr Centennials Purchase Kitchener Dutchmen
It would be good to pare back the size of the league but unwise to eliminate the teams in the large populated areas

Re: Ayr Centennials Purchase Kitchener Dutchmen
But this doesn't change much. You already have Waterloo there, and let's be honest... Kitchener-Waterloo is essentially one city at this point. Not to mention Elmira is 15 minutes down the road, Cambridge 10, Ayr 10, etc.
Not to mention, Kitchener didn't really bring in fans. Worrying about losing Kitchener is like worrying about the league losing Guelph 2 years ago. The best teams in the conference from an attendance standpoint are smaller towns like Stratford, Listowel, Elmira, Cambridge. Kitchener, Brantford and Brampton are at the low end.

Attendance numbers don’t lie....owners must have deep pockets or quite the sponsorship base to keep teams afloat. Be interesting what the sponsorship $$$ will be after this covid19 mess. Question is, will sponsors be able to afford that extra money

Sure.. Scale back.. But where is this league going to get the money from? Attendance is not an issue of owners have deep pockets and business es where the losses dont matter anyway. FYI.. Dont take your lead from the OJ.. They are, as someone here once said, a rudderless ship! But then again.. The decisions this league has or has not made speak volumes as to the type of ship the GO is. If you ask me.. Things were much better when we had three independant leagues. At least decisions were being made.

The OJ is the furthest thing from a rudderless ship. The move to Brantford and the deal they signed with the GOJHL to make it happen speak volumes to what their plans are and that they know they can accomplish it because the GOJHL owners can't agree on a single thing.FrozenPonds wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 1:50 pm Sure..
