Here's a radical change..LOL...

Post by Ron »

Suggestion...perhaps somewhat tongue-in-cheek...take the Golden Horseshoe Conference and revamp the schedule in midstream into two mini-divisions, the top four (the haves) and the bottom four (the have nots) with teams playing only in their 'mini-Division'. This would benefit all the clubs because of better games, closer competition and more fan support. For playoffs 1 in 'haves' receives a first round bye 2 v.3 and 4 v. first in have nots. Three teams left play a 3 of 5 or 4 of 7 to determine who advances to Sutherland Cup.

I saw the game at the Dave last night, Hamilton 1 Welland 0, and if it were not for 'puck luck', goalposts and crossbars and an amazing performance from Mr. Vendette this could have been minimum 6-0 game.

It would make the regular season meaningful if there were consequences such as no post season play for more than 1 team for losing consistently. Now that the GOJHL is free and clear of interference from the OHA they should be able to make this happen

Welland was on a back to back against a rested Hamilton team. Is that an excuse of any kind to no show no of course not but with a little bit of puck luck of their own they could of won last night still even being out shot badly. Goalie did his job on both sides. Anyone can win on any night in the Shoe if the other team takes the night off. Its happened a few times already including this past weekend with Fort Erie beating Niagara Falls.

For sure it does not help either that the regular season is meaning less because all teams make it.

I just read this on the OJHL board. They've made a slight change to their seeding process for play-offs.

Sometimes you just have to straighten your crown and remind them who they're dealing with.

I have to wonder if anyone within the GOJHL braintrust has considered a seeding procedure similar to this to prevent the worst team in the league from "earning" a playoff spot due to geography.

Hopefully they wait until next year to do it so that Lockport can finally get in and have a kick at the can, lol !
