Yes it would have!! BL had the advantage of ZERO social media!! So everything that happened under his watch....was as slow as molasses to get out there, if it even did at all!!

The meeting today was a vote on the OHF/OHA resolution that the OHA and OHF came up with to try and block the memberships special meeting for Monday, this was their shot at trying to remain in power by dissolving the board and having the OHF appoint 3 “non biased” people one of which is very good friends with the past chairman of the OHA.

That was what today’s vote was for which was voted down tomorrow’s vote is for the memberships special meeting of which a resolution will be voted on which is to get rid of a number of board members as well as past chair and president but she’s already resigned. And put in place their own people from all 3 levels of the oha.

Today’s meeting was just a way for the OHA to try and squash the Membershipships Special Meeting they were hoping they would win the votes which would eliminate a need for the meeting tomorrow.

All that’s left is to find out tomorrow night whether we have a fresh new OHA or if the memberships resolution gets voted down and we continue down the same road we’re currently on

Though I firmly agree that the OHA needed to takes a hands off approach and allow the leagues to make their own decisions in the best interests of those leagues, the OHA is not the only culprit here!! Rather than worry about golf vacays and international hardware, Hockey Canada should have come into this long ago! It is not like they didn't know this was on-going! Same with the OHF! They knew what was going on yet did nothing about it. And now, the OHF wants to come in and appear to be the saviour! The problem with the OHA is that for the longest time, they have operated with a carte blanche mentality because they have been allowed to do so by the OHF and Hockey Canada. It is the way hockey is structured! Got a complaint and go to Hockey Canada. They will tell you that you need to speak to the branch (OHF). The branch will then tell you to try and work it out with the Member Partner (OHA) and it goes on and on! They will use key terms like "rationale" and "best interests". I have said to several team Execs that..by the time you bring a complaint to all three levels and someone ACTUALLY listens to it, you forgot what the hell you were looking for in the first place!! If anything comes out of this process, it should be that these "governing" bodies get back to looking at measures to improve their productivity (key indicator to business success) and actually understanding who their customers are and the fact that they should be there for the customer and not the other way around!!

One would need to define who the customer is. In many of the leagues outside of the OHA sponsors fans and subscribers to HockeyTV would be the customers since they are the sources of league and team revenues. In the OHA players are short term customers since they are asked to contribute financially as well as with their time. They need to look at what others are doing better be open to modify their product, think outside of the box they have built. How is our average attendance compared to teams in other branches average with similar population draw would be a great place to start. How does our cost to the player compare to other leagues? Are we taking adequate measures with rule enforcement in regards to player safety? Has the implementation of mandatory cages reduced all player injuries (not just dental) or is there more injuries through head contact than there was before? Would a player choose to play OHA if given a choice of another branch? For those taking over, there is a lot of work to be done.

all good questions that need to be addressed in some fashion going forward

that being said if you ever had to deal with the entitlement of some individuals on the board ( and since removed) you will welcome these changes with open arms

I look forward to a new and improved OHA

word is that the boards first order was to approve the GOJHL Inc as the governing entity of the the GOJHL similar to how the OJHL is run and also the approval of the Milton to Brantford Move and with that I’ve heard there’s a GOJHL team that’s gone to the OHF and Hockey Canada over said decisions to have it reversed.

This should never have been an issue in the first place. The move had the support of both the OJHL and the GOJHL! Going to take a page out of a governing body's handbook and looking for the "rationale" for the decision by the OHA to deny this move!! You would be hard pressed to find any rationale but the statement "in the best interests of the game" would most certainly have been used!

Absolutely. The most successful business now are ones who utilize both productivity measurement tools and best practices of both their brand and more importantly, the competition! This league could be very successful. Build a brand and a product that the kids WANT to be apart of and they will have no need to listen to those who are supposedly in the know and push them to other leagues.

I personally with over two decades of teams in oha more then happy to see the ship is being righted. I left on a sour and defeated mood and happy with some degree of common sense back in play. Thanks

What do you mean everything stays the same? Why make changes just to oust old board if no solutions or fresh ideas are going to be implemented. I agree that players need to be protected from self serving owners and coaches good luck to new members of board .Lets get started now!!!
