Siskins Off-Season
Waterloo had their Prospect Camp the last weekend of April. Not sure if anyone here went to check that out? Anyways, the first bit of news to come out of Waterloo came last night:
New Liskeard Cubs @NLCubs
@calsause21 congrats on signing with the @WaterlooSiskins!
Looks like this kid: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=266700
37 pts in 33 games as a 99 in Midget - 31 pts in 34 games last year as a Minor Midget playing in a Midget league. Small defenseman it looks like.

Heard the comparison is Andrew Lane with out the shot.
If he commits to the Siskins for a few seasons he could turn into a PP Specialist. Really good skater

Big signing if true. Lane was one of my favorite midwest D this season.SebJHockey wrote:Heard the comparison is Andrew Lane with out the shot.
Him, Leahy, Proner, Peterson and Landry.

Very possible. Might need a year to figure things out but it looks like it could be a potential rebuilding year in Waterloo. Won't name names but some players are looking to move up to A, the BCHL and the fact we don't have a goaltender currently is a bit of a concern.
But Waterloo will still be competitive, I just think currently, when you look at the Schaefers, Sparkes, and the Bentleys, this team will be prime in 2 seasons.

Re: Siskins Off-Season
Announced today, Gary Mantz is returning to the Siskins. He built it up pretty good, with an official announcement today. Said he's had offers to go to other teams, I was told he was going to the NOJHL, but he's decided to stay with Waterloo. This is good news for the Siskins who have lost a lot of guys the last couple seasons.

Re: Siskins Off-Season
Looking like the Mid-West will be different this season. Cambridge, Waterloo, Elmira all adding big names & resigning top players.
What about Guelph? Is it going to be a full rebuild? Will Listowel improve on their strong finish to last season?

BIG trade in @GOJHL is now OFFICIAL. @WaterlooSiskins defenceman @Jslegers12 has been traded to @SugarKings for goalie @liamdevine98 #GOJHL
Huge trade. Slegers can be a top 6 grinding forward with size or he has such great mobility on the back end. Devine is a legitimate number one goalie, which Waterloo essentially didn't have until late in the season when Datz got his game together.

Apparently Conner Jean is headed to Pembroke in the CCHL. Would have been one of the best forwards in the GOJHL if he came back.

Excited to pursue my junior hockey dreams with the Waterloo Siskins... https://www.instagram.com/p/BI0zMM1BRMm ... ie3MO3S00/
Quick search on eliteprospects shows he is a 97F with 35 goals, 29 assists for 64 points in 27 games with Berkley High in United States High School Hockey in Michigan.
The same loop that Waterloo took Lane, Kipke and Jean from I believe.
