Western Conference

Post by Caledonia Fan »

Fan's of the west is so lucky want great hockey you been seeing so far. In's a 5 team race out West Leamington, London, Chatham, LaSalle and St Thomas. Even Sarnia is a .500 club sitting in 6th. By far the best Conference in the GOJHL. I see London and Leamington have some afternoon games on the weekend might be time for some road trips.

We all know that we're the best, but don't let your Conference hear you say that. They don't like when we tell them that they're the weaker sister. :)

Indeed the West is the deepest this season. Some think it's that conference every year, but bias will be bias. It does make for great hockey.

But we all know what conference holds the best team in the GOJHL, and that's all that matters when the season ends.

Caledonia is a truly exceptional team from back to front, and it all starts with good management and great coaching which attracts the top players. I hope the relatively weaker competition they face in the Shoe doesn't make them complacent, though. Teams at the end of the season usually look a lot different than they do at the beginning, depending on how hard they have to battle to make it deep into the post-season. And whoever emerges from the West will be a battle hardened underdog hungry to take down the mighty Corvairs.

I'm still not used to seeing Thorold & Niagara Falls be middle/bottom of the pack. They both had quite the run for several years near the top of the standings.

Caledonia is the BEST plain and simple until someone knocks them off which will not be easy.

I'll say St.Thomas will slip a couple of spots. I think they've had a good run, but losing two top forwards to the OHL will hurt down the stretch.

I could see them sliding down as far as 6th. Should be interesting.

I'd say under-achieving is Lambton Shores. Look at their roster, how many veterans they have, yet they're in last place.

They under achieve every year, well it seems like they do. I remember Brothers, Arsenault, Ferguson, etc. being their main core, and they couldn't win games then.

Something must be wrong down there.
