Fort Erie, St.Catharines game suspended
The Mets game in St.Catharines was suspended after the 1st period tonight with Fort Erie leading 1-0. It's not yet known if the game will be resumed, or re-played at a later date.
I say they need to resume the game at 1-0 after the 1st period. It has been done before. The suspension occurred after it was decided the ice wasn't in good enough condition for the game to continue. Apparently the ice was just put in within the last week or so.
These kind of things do happen, but this looks like it could have been prevented. Was it an issue that just came up? Or was the
ice just not ready? If it was the latter, there's no excuse for that.

Went in this past Monday. I would assume the game would be resumed at a later date.

My understanding is that the game has to be replayed in its entirety.

They might restart the whole thing but Fort Erie would still have a 1-0 lead to startBeenThereDoneThat wrote:My understanding is that the game has to be replayed in its entirety.

They should be continuing it.

This is from the OHF rule book.
For a game that is suspended, the following options shall be available:
(a) The remainder of the game may be played at a later date. In this case, the game will resume with all conditions (penalties, score, etc.) as when the game was suspended. The referee shall note these conditions on the Game Report.
(b) The entire game may be replayed if it has a bearing on final standings within a league.
(c) The application of either (a) or (b) shall be at the discretion of the Member Partner who has sanctioned the game or in the case of Branch playoff competition, the OHF President.
(d) This Regulation will not be applicable in the case of a game suspended by curfew when the time of curfew was noted on the Game Report.
As this game does not have a bearing on the standings, I think they'll go with a) the game is resumed at a later date.

Surprise, surprise. Why not continue the game? Those kids worked hard for that 1-0 lead after the 1st period.
But, this league doesn't do what makes sense very often.

The OHA is taking care of the officiating staff. They get full pay for the Sept 18th game and they will get full pay for the re-scheduled game on Oct.20th.
