It was a tough thing to watch. Felt sorry for all those new kids having their families watch them be toyed with by a much better club. Guelph was very nice about it. A lot of sportsmanship. It really did look like men playing against boys. It reminded me of a Kickoff Weekend in Leamington a number of years ago when the Flyers rolled over us by a bigger score. Eric Bender from the London Free Press called us inept - and we were.

It was men against boys, and hats off to Guelph. 8-1 after 2, the damage could have been worse had they not let off on the gas in the 3rd. Strathroy to their credit they made some adjustments and bounced back nicely against Thorold with what will be a rare 0-0 tie with the new OT format. Starting out 0-2 before visits to Leamington, Lambton Shores and LaSalle would have made for a tough start. On the bright side the return of Lucas Latina will be a big boost to the Strathroy offence.
