Sarnia Torchbearer carries sixth ring

Post by Blades »

A 13-year old Sarnian will be a torchbearer for the Olympic torch when it makes it's way through our province. The young man - Tyler Vynckier - will be wearing a ring attached to a chain around his neck as a reminder of who he will be running for when he gets handed the torch on Dec 23 ... his step-sister Caitlyn Cicchini who died about two years ago from a rare form of abdominal cancer at the age of 18. If the last name sounds familiar to those of us in the Western Conference of the GOJHL it's because Tyler Cicchini is in his third season with the team and is now it's captain. Vynicker - aka Lil Ty - will run 400 meters on Highway 20 in LaSalle at 3:18 on December 23 which is the day Big Ty (Tyler) marks his 18th birthday.
Sounds like a feel good story to me and thought I'd share it.
