Ron Horvat is highly respected and capable coach in Jr. B hockey and is far from the problem in Komoka.
The problem is and always has been Roop Chanderdat. Move the team from Petrolia to Forest people said and the team will be better, will be able to attract better players and draw more fans.
Move the team from Forest to Komoka people said and the team will be better, will be able to attract better players and will draw more fans.
None of these things materialized. The reason that none of these things materialized is because Chanderdat who is the root of the problems moved with the team. The only thing that can save Komoka is Chanderdat must seperate himself from the day to day operations of the team and just be a supportive owner. Chanderdat knows nothing about the day to day operations of a hockey team and his passion is managing the London Majors which he also sucks at and he should also seperate himself from.

I agree Roop has no business being involved in hockey, but neither does Horvat. Ask the players and see if he is well respected, he plays his so called top line into the ground while taking some good players entirely out of the game sitting on the bench, one of which recently went to jr C. The PP and the PK units are incompetent which is a direct reflection of poor coaching. This is his second season coaching the team and every player there was signed on his watch, no way that he is not responsible for the current place in the standings.

Hmmmm. Just so that I am clear..... and I will not go back over his past accomplishments with the other junior teams that he has coached prior to coming to Komoka. Last year Horvat took a team { Komoka } that had 12 wins the year before he started and finished 7th and were swept in the playoffs and turned it into a 20 win 6th place finish his first year. Then in the playoffs they knocked off the Chatham Maroons who finished 3rd with 28 wins in 5 games. He then took the first place Leamington Flyers who finished with 33 wins to 7 games before losing out...... hmmmm not bad for a guy who has no business coaching junior B.
Now according to you I guess Horvat must have gotten stupid over the summer. apparently you think he should have a very young roster { only 2 1999 birth year and only 5 2000 birth year, 2 of which are goalies }..... { London has 9 1999 birth year and 7 2000 birth year} ..... { Leamington has 7 1999 birth year and 6 2000 birth year } fighting with London and Leamington for top spot. Komoka is currently in last place 10 points out of 5th and only 5 points out of 6th with games in hand on most teams that they are chasing.
Please stop, you are only coming across as a player or a parent of a player that is unhappy with his playing time, if that is the case then speak to Chaderdat and request a trade if any other team will take you.

Komoka is a great place to play jr b hockey. Support is decent. A very good owner and staff are very good. These people should be praised once in awhile. This is not there full time jobs. We need more of them.
To own operate these junior b teams takes some kind of grit and hard work plus financial where with all.
All leagues and teams within the oha should and receive there own special thanks and a big round of applause from the hockey community!

Sometimes things are not what they seem on the surface, Babcock was a well respected coach but his arrogance and abuse of power got the best of him eventually.

Komoka I agree with Richard is a good place to play. From my experiences watching many of their games Horvat is a good coach, he is demanding, he's a great communicator and never stops teaching during games. As for Roop he's the owner and he really has the best interests of the kids and the team in mind. Decisions have to be made sometimes they work out sometimes they don't. And yes sometimes parents and friends get offended. This year in particular they have struggled with injuries, have worked on trying to improve their goaltending, lost their 16 yr. old to the Otters and had forwards in defensive positions because of the these injuries. One thing is clear however these kids come to play every night. They may be a little short in depth at some positions but they play hard.
