On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of local goaltender Kyle Curtin. The 16 year old netminder is a draft pick of the Peterborough Petes in the OHL. Curtin stepped into a pressure packed situation during the PJHL playoffs after being called up by the Paris Mounties. With Davis McLean and Justin Hergott both unavailable, Curtin made 36 saves backstopping the Mounties to a Game 2 victory over the Wellesley Applejacks. Curtin spent the majority of last season playing for the Brantford 99'ers Major Midget team. Now he's taking the next step in his hockey career this fall, signing with the Lincolns.

Thanks for the updates. It’s unfortunate that many of the teams don’t give up to date signings. I find it weird that they wish for more fans and attendance, but don’t keep them in the loop. They take the “wait and see” approach and leave it to game 1 of the season.
Even the OJHL isn't announcing much in the way of player movement. St Thomas is the quietest of all teams appearing to have done nothing since their spring camp, Komoka has only released names their new bench staff additions so far. London once again held their spring camp later than most. Sarnia is keeping their fans in the loop with several announcements of new personnel both on and off the ice. An announcement revealing returnees is generally made toward the end of June.

I agree. Sadly some teams don't seem to want to make the announcements. I haven't seen a single one from the Kings and considering two of their top players in Skinner and Jordan, who were very popular, are now overage I think they need to build some excitement with some new signings (if there are some). Listowel just announced a few on Twitter (a few Waterloo AAA's) so they continue to build interest. .

I love the Kings, I will be in the stands anyhow, but there needs to be more than me in those seats. Hopefully we hear something soon.

Flyers Sign Leamington Native Adam Jeffery

The Leamington Flyers are proud to announce their first signing for the 2018-2019 season. The first signing under the new regime will be Leamington native Adam Jeffery.

Listed at 6”4 and 190 lbs, Adam Jeffery is a product of the Windsor AAA Zone program. He was chosen in the 7th round of the 2017 OHL draft by the Oshawa Generals. Jeffery comes to the Flyers after a brief cameo in the 2016-2017 season, suiting up in 3 games for Leamington as an APM.

Last season, he was a member of the Windsor AAA Midget Major squad where he managed to register 43 points (15 goals, 28 assists) in 35 games. The year before, he accumulated 34 points (21 goals, 13 assists) in 33 games while captaining the Windsor Midget Minors. Jeffery was also a member of L’Essor’s high school hockey team last season.

From Flyers GM Justin Solcz “Adam was the 1st guy we targeted after taking control of the team. When building a championship team its very important to have local players that connect you to the community. Adam is a great hockey player and even a better person and a future leader of our hockey club and the community.”

From Flyers Head Coach Cam Crowder “Gifted playmaker that makes those around him better. Very good on the powerplay. A leader that has been a captain on his AAA teams, very excited to add a local Leamington player of his caliber

Jeffery skated in the Flyers Spring Evaluation Camp earlier in May. In two games, he finished tied for the tournament lead with 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists).

Welcome to the team Adam Jeffery!

Flyers Sign Stobbs Rookie of the Year Wyatt O'Neil
Joining the Leamington Flyers for their 2018-2019 season is 2001 born forward Wyatt O’Neil.
Wyatt O’Neil comes to the Flyers after spending last season playing for the Essex 73’s under current Flyers coach’s Cam Crowder and Cam Sinclair’s watch.
While playing the team’s 16 year-old, O’Neill was second in team scoring as he registered 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) while appearing in every regular season game. The Cyclones have been busy..........

http://519sportsonline.ca/article_news.php?articleID=57

The Listowel Cyclones have been very active the last 24 hours announcing a number of player signings for the upcoming Junior B hockey season. The Cyclones revelaed earlier this week Chayse Herrfort and Holdyn Lansink would both be returning this fall. Both players were huge difference makers helping the Cyclones bring home the Cherrey and Sutherland Cup last season.

In addition, Listowel announced Wednesday on Twitter several additions to the roster. Riley McCabe is joining the Cyclones between the pipes. McCabe is a 17 year old goaltender from Arthur and he spent last season playing Major Midget hockey with the Waterloo Wolves. Before that, McCabe spent one season with the Waterloo Wolves Minor Midget team.

On the blueline, former Kitchener Junior Rangers Minor Midget David Mabey is heading to Cycs Nation this fall. Mabey played in 2 regular season games for Listowel last year and is a Guelph Storm prospect. Defenseman Brendan Koops also signed with the Cyclones this week. Koops is a Guelph native who played for the Junior Gryphons during his Minor Midget year. Last season, he patrolled the blueline for the Waterloo Wolves Major Midget squad.

Up front, the Cyclones signed 3 players this week including Brayden Krieger who played 5 games for Listowel last season. Krieger is from Elora and he is a prospect of the London Knights in the OHL. Jonah White is another addition up front. White played for the Waterloo Wolves Major Midgets last season, recording 19 points in 32 games. Jacob Bloomfield was White's teammate in Waterloo and he also signed with Listowel this week. Bloomfield picked up 42 points in a Wolves jersey last season.

Flyers Sign Canadiens Forward Dylan Bradley - Full Story

The Flyers have added 1999 born, Windsor Native Dyan Bradley. Bradley comes to the Flyers from the Lakeshore Canadiens, with whom he won a Stobbs Division Championship last season.

Last year, Bradley appeared in 38 games for Lakeshore, and he netted 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) good enough for third on his team in scoring. Dylan is listed as a 5’10” and 170 lbs right shooting forward. Dylan is a strong, two-way forward and played a crucial shutdown role, going against the opposition’s top lines during Lakeshore's playoff run last season. He also appeared in 2 Games last season for the LaSalle Vipers & registered 1 Assist.

From Flyers GM Justin Solcz: “Dylan is a late bloomer with tremendous upside. His journey the last few years from AE to JR B is a great story and a tribute to his work ethic. He is coming off a championship season in Lakeshore and its very important to have guys on the team that have won before and know what it takes.

From Flyers Head Coach Cam Crowder: “Dylan is a proven winner that can play in any situation, and excelled on the penalty kill last year with Lakeshore. Dylan will be a fan favourite with the Flyers.”

Why the sudden spike in signings through mid to end of June? Do teams just get anxious or is there some kind of deadline that has to be met for some of this?

Apparently all players in minor hockey and junior C are free agents now, so teams are being more aggressive because they can't sit on them until main camp like in years prior.

Interesting! I wonder if that free agent thing will prompt more young players to aquire advisors or agents to help them
through to the Junior level? Minor to Junior is such a huge difference in so many ways, on and off the ice!

What Hockey Canada has done is end the practice of using team to team affiliations. In past seasons a Junior team could own the signing rights of an entire team or group of teams by using a club to club affiliation. In many cases these affiliations worked more to the detriment of the young athlete. Under the revised system all players progressing to a higher level (JR B) are free agents, just as GOJHL players are when moving on to any of the CJHL leagues, USHL, NAHL etc. When moving laterally or dropping down, are the only instances a permission to skate is necessary.

In future years player looking to move beyond their local junior team may find it more beneficial or even necessary to have an agent or advisor.

Flyers Acquire Veteran Defenceman Zach Taylor
The Leamington Flyers continue to solidify their defense for the 2018-2019 season with the acquisition of right handed rear-guard Zach Taylor from the Brampton Admirals.
Hailing from Sault Ste. Marie, ON, the 5’11” and 190 lbs defenseman comes to Leamington after spending two seasons with Orangeville Flyers (who relocated to become the Brampton Admirals earlier this week) of the OJHL. While there, Taylor suited up in 78 games where he registered 8 goals and 34 assists for 42 points.
He was utilized on their power play while in Orangeville, with 20 of his career points (5 goals, 15 assists) coming while on the man advantage.
Prior to his time in Orangeville, Taylor spent time at The Hill Academy and is a product of the Soo Greyhounds program.
In 2015, Taylor was draft in 15th round by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
The Flyers expect Zach to be another veteran presence on the back end.

seriously?? the fact that anyone can call themselves a "family advisor" and represent players for cash is a joke ( understood if you are a high end draft pick and a pro/college career is in the making fine, but what advisor needs to be haunting Jr C camps for clients)...especially when the advisor plays both ends against the middle...take a fee from parents then collect a fee from the team for finding players...you would have thought that after the David Frost fiasco that HC/OHF/OHA would have instituted some rules for those that hold themselves out as advisors ( licensing, police checks, insurance, etc)

It really depends on where the player wants to go with his junior career. If the player is staying local at Jr C and or Jr B then an agent/advisor wont likely be worth it. In reality this scenario fits most players in the GOJHL and likely all in Jr C

However for a player that either isn't local or planning to move on the Jr A or CHL an agent/advisor can be a very good investment.

Other than Sarnia and Pelham. I haven't seen any blockbuster goal tenders signing to teams yet! Lets face it, outside
of solid D teams need that Number 1 tendy. That's what it all comes down to when push comes to shove. Although I realize its still pretty early.

Adam Keyes (St Thomas) is also on his way to Cobourg. It seems like there is a lot of player movement both ways between the GOJHL and the OJHL this year and a number of players leaving the NOJHL to play GOJHL this year. Not sure if it is more prevalent than other seasons or not.

The OJHL finally have their transaction page up for this season. Add in Will Barber (Sarnia) going to Oakville, Grant Spence (Chatham) going to North York and Wes Dobbin (Komoka) going to Cobourg. I might have missed a few since it is a long list.
