Re: New Rockets Coach

I don't think they would be coachless 2 weeks away from main camp if Gibson was still running the ship. Like him or not he was very well organized.

Nothing puzzling about it. The acquisition's dad is a former AAA and Jr coach who/s son is an established player at this level.

The 16 year old caps are imposed by Hockey Canada. The OHA actually isn't at fault for that one.

Re: New Jr C Rule

I would think that it would provide the GMHL with a better talent pool. Those players wanting to play down are still going to find something that works. If C is filled they will go to the outlaw leagues before enrolling in beer league. For the GOJHL it will result in less development fees coming bac...

Re: Brantford Going Jr A?

If it isn't the timing of the application, I don't know what the rationale could be. Mr DeDobblelaer appears to have structured this in a way that should cause minimal harm if any to either community. With the proposal to relocate the B team to Milton it would leave both communities with junior hock...

Re: CAMBRIDGE SITUATION

There have also been numerous players change teams with Thorold and Cambridge now out. Where did all their players go? Significant numbers of GOJHL players have signed with OJHL and other JR A teams and numerous players have joined the GOJHL from the OJHL and other places. The OJHL has an relatively...

Re: Brantford Going Jr A?

I saw that but nothing yet on Miltons site or the OJHL site, however that doesn't mean nothing is happening. Assuming this is factual, I would think it would be a relocation with all of the Milton players like we are seeing with Lambton Shores moving to Komoka. Some players may ask for trades to sta...

Re: CAMBRIDGE SITUATION

I don't know why it would matter if you were Joe or whomever, fact is that Joe isn't alone in his opinions that Jr A will not exist West of Milton as long as the OHA manages hockey with their current mindset. Simply put, they do not believe there is enough talent from beyond Milton to Windsor to sup...

Re: Cambridge

There are 2 separate fees (or taxes if you prefer) that have been imposed on the players in recent years. There is a $339 fee for the OHA, and then more recently a $750 GOJHL fee. 5 years ago neither of these existed. Both want a cheque directly from the individual player,.

I had heard somewhere Thorold out this season. Looks like Buffalo plans to be in. Now that HC has issued it's statement itt would be nice to hear from the commissioners office how Cambridge, Thorold and Buffalo decisions impact the league. Without a realignment the Shoe will only have 8 teams if Buf...

At 5-7K per player someone is making a lot of cash. CHL teams provide all of the same plus education packages and they pay their players.

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues

One of the very few things the OJ does better than GOJHL is promoting it's product. The OJ has its website set up for 2017/18 showing most or all of the transactions to date. The GOJHL site is still on last season. I would assume some teams are making some official signings now.

Re: Coaching changes

St Catharines has hired Dan Fitzgerald from Cambridge. I would think this is a good move. You want to have a coach firmly in place June 1 when cards can be signed. With the Cambridge roster set to become free agents it isn't a bad strategic move to have someone in place who could draw some of those...

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

Sometimes a player needs to be moved to a certain. Team for school. Imagine a kid in Pelham gets accepted to Western. Should the player be forced to finish his career in Pelham or be forced to quit. The owner coaches players etc are generally from London and have been for years. Still as pointed out...

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

There has never been a club affiliation agreement between the Chiefs and anyone. The Chiefs used ice at Brookside, Aylmer St Thomas Strathroy and Glencoe when their home rink, old London ice House closed. They never had a home until the rink was built in Komoka and the Chiefs signed a long term deal...

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

If a team does a club to club affiliation with their local minor system all players that qualify residentially and have participated during the previous season in the affiliate's system must be released by the parent Jr B club before setting foot on another Jr B teams ice. Currently the London Natio...

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

The buildings other main tennant, EMC, sent correspondence to the municipality supporting bringing the Preds to Komoka. Given that the EMC minor midget coach is a former Preds coach and Don Dickson's long association with both EMC and Dave Warren it isn't a stretch to think that EMC and the Preds wo...

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

All London players are required to be released by the London Nationals before trying out with another Jr B team. Reason is because they have a club to club affiliation with the junior Knights. If the Preds do a club to club the same rules would apply. Fun fact, 3 years ago the Strathroy Rockets trad...

Hopefully that practice comes to an end with this move. With better access to players and 1st dibs on the Chief grads the Preds should easily be able to achieve a plus 500 record annually.

The municipality will be meeting on June 21 for a final decision on the Preds becoming a major tennant at the Komoka Wellness and Recreation Centre. Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

Most OHL teams use more than one place to send their affiliates. Sarnia appears to be using Chatham instead of Lambton Shores as a 2nd affiliate. Henderson and Ethan Lavallee were both re assigned to Chatham when they did not make the Sting. Legionnaires only signed 1 16 year old initially. The seco...
