Re: Caledonia Corvairs work to do

Well, 9 guys out on suspension and still Caledonia is barely edged out by the second-place Falcons. Guess that says a lot about depth of Corvairs. If only they had a few more 20-yr-old OHLers, they may have won. I guess half the roster is not enough. Management better get back to work.

Re: Fort Erie 5 Caledonia 2!!!!

I made the following comment earlier on the Shoe forum as part of a different conversation, but it seems relevant to what I read on this thread: "...it will be an embarrassment if Caledonia doesn't win the Suthie with the crew they've assembled here. If they get on the ropes in the play-offs, I...

Re: Battisti suspended 10 games

The boy has been notorious for kicking nets off at least since pee wee. He's the master at this. Fact: he kicked the net off. Fact: he got called for it. Fact: he shot the puck out of the net after letting one past him on the pk. Fact: the puck he shot after the whistle hit the ref. Fact: you can't ...

Re: London @ Leamington

Couple things. First, while it may be semantics, I would describe the West not necessarily as "deep(er)" but more as a conference with the most parity. 30 points separate 1st and 4th in the Shoe; 25 points separate 1st and 4th in the Midwest; 16 points separate 1st and 4th in the West. So ...

Thanks for the post, Brian. I appreciate and respect your providing the extra information and defending your player. There's no half-brain commenting going on here. Any reasonable person watching the video, seeing the outcome/injury, and observing an 11-game suspension is going to pause and wonder w...

Re: Limit 20 years old

I'm only familiar with a few of the players so won't dispute your assessment of where they'd fit on an OHL roster, and obviously they're all in B for a reason. It's clearly very attractive to play in Caledonia for reasons including being mentored by a former NHLer who has a great track record (accor...

Re: Limit 20 years old

Yeah, something like that would be a good idea, Port. There should be caps on the number of players teams can carry at each age group, but particularly on the number of ex-major junior 20-year-olds. Consider this. If my count is correct, the Corvairs could ice two full lines of OHL vets (all but one...

Re: Caledonia 17 Pelham 1

Chiming back in here simply to thank those who've shed more light on what happened in this game, in particular, and more generally with the long-standing problem in Pelham. It is too easy to jump to conclusions sometimes based on box scores alone (guilty as charged). No one's disputing Caledonia is ...

Re: Caledonia 17 Pelham 1

It's a poor reflection on the coach and a poor reflection on the league. You rein it in. You play your youngsters and 4th line more. Oops, forgot... Corvairs don't have any youngsters. Hell, the Corvairs don't even have any non ex-OHLers. Then they go out and spank a Jr C cal really team with a shor...

Full credit? What a joke. Twelve players on the bench of the worst team in the league, and you take the boots to them? Maybe Bullard could tune the boys up some more by scheduling some exhibition games in a girls ringette league.

Embarrassing for everyone involved. Speaks volumes about the class-act show Bullard is running in Caledonia. Good game, coach. You really showed 'em what a powerhouse you've built. You must feel proud.

Re: London @ Leamington

Scott's blog got it right. Hughes was the difference. Hope both teams get over their injury problems. Concussions on both sides plaguing top players. Two well-matched teams that have battled in low-scoring affairs all season. Should be noted that London beat the Flyers on Leamington ice last year in...

Re: Chatham, Leamington, LaSalle, London

I predict a Leamington-London final, giving London a slight edge if they get and stay healthy with a full bench. Despite some of their top point-getters battling the injury bug lately, London's on a good tear down the back stretch. The home-and-away games vs Flyers over the next week will offer an e...

Re: Can anyone stop Caledonia in a best of seven series?

Anything short of a three-peat with the roster management has purchased (truth) would be a failure and embarrassment for this club. It's a bit nauseating to see the # of ex-OHLers, 20-yr-olds and former OJs on the roster of a so-called Jr B team. But, you can't argue with success if it happens withi...

Re: Western Conference

Caledonia is a truly exceptional team from back to front, and it all starts with good management and great coaching which attracts the top players. I hope the relatively weaker competition they face in the Shoe doesn't make them complacent, though. Teams at the end of the season usually look a lot d...

Re: 2015-2016 Predictions

London and Caledonia meeting at this weekend's showcase has the potential to be a great contest that could foreshadow a post-season match-up for the cup if these pre-season predictions amount to anything. For those who put any faith in statistics, and if my math is correct, Caledonia had the league'...

Re: New Season

Lots of interesting posts on here... Predictions before the season starts, while fun, is a mug's game -- especially in Jr. B. So much change and churn one year over the next (and tons more will happen before a regular season puck drops) that choosing winners/losers is like playing roulette. That sai...

Congrats to the Flyers and good luck at the Suthie vs. Corvairs. If they're missing Quick, that'll hurt. Let's hope he has time to heal. Re next season... they'll have to get by the Nats to 3-peat. I'm looking forward to those match ups.

Re: 15:57 Flyers, Nationals

Port, I agree. My comment re Worrad was more observation than complaint, though it is indeed very hard to watch a kid get targeted like that when you know he's really hurt. It's a rough game and we all know that. If the kid stays put in London and doesn't jump immediately on his ride to NCAA's Clark...

Re: 15:57 Flyers, Nationals

I'm going to resist the urge to bash the refs because for the second game in a row, the young Nats seemed to beat themselves. Up 2 goals and leading in shots for the first time in the series. Two quick goals by the Flyers and wheels started to wobble. Then Shipley takes a double minor for high stick...

Game sheet says it was GM55 which I believe is 2 games. In my day, it wasn't called a slash when you jabbed someone in the jewels. Whatever... looks to me like he's got two games out to think about it. Lucky for him. Don't think he would escape retribution from the guy he speared.

Re: Leamington pushes London to brink of elimination with 5-4 win

Nats lost this game... as in they coulda, woulda, shoulda won. They had the lead three times, including going into the third. Once again, too many penalties and undisciplined play in their own end allowed Flyers to get back in it. I will refrain from naming names of the biggest offenders; they know ...

What was a 7-game series is now a 3-game series. Not a bad place to be for a team that many said would be swept or maybe steal one game vs Chatham, and same again vs Flyers. Last night's loss was an inevitable wake-up call for the Nats who were maybe starting to put too much stock in their "und...
