Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?
The Mt Brydges Bulldogs play Friday nights so that isn't part of the equation. London Stratford Sarnia and Chatham all draw significantly more than 500 fans on average The London Knights top prospects, Billy Moskal ( Sudbury) Riley Coome (Dorchester) and Jordan Kooy ( Bradford) all played in St Mary...

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?
I don't see why the OHA would object if the league has already ratified the move. Jr B anywhere is going to be a bigger fan draw than senior hockey or the GMHL. This move would put the Preds in a great position to work directly with the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs since they would share the same facility...

Re: Troubles in Rocket land ?
Any word on who will take over behind the bench? Rockets prospect camp was last weekend. Trying to run these camps with no coach in place hasn't produced very good results in the past.

Re: CAMBRIDGE SITUATION
I think an 8 team A league outside of the OHA would be a great solution if Hockey Canada is on board. If the players paid an equivalent to the GOJHL assessment fee it would put the teams on par with premierTier 2 Jr A in Canada like the BCHL. The teams could also choose to play with half shields lik...

Re: CAMBRIDGE SITUATION
As radical as the Cambridge decision may sound it is in the best interests of Junior A hockey players. There should be A level hockey west of Milton no two ways about it. For many joining the OJHL is not a viable solution even if the OHA was to allow it. The OJ for all intensive purposes is just to ...

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues
Some advisors will try to convince players that the OJ is a superior league. It does cost the players 6-10k to play and they do appear to move higher percentages of players to NCAA D1 schools, It is a better marketed league than the GOJHL, the OHA claims it is a better league although most know the ...

I doubt the CCHL, BCHL, AJHL etc will be going back to cages because the OHA wants to.

Re: Early Surprises?
I expect more out if LaSalle as well. St Mary's has had more players sent down from the OHL than usual so they should be better this year. Having ex OHL guys like Thompson and recent ex NHLers like Bell working with the players has made St. Mary's a better choice than recent years. Hopefully they ca...

Re: TWIG - This Week In the Go
I agree with RG. The respect level hasn't changed, it is the way HC and the OHF want the game called. In Major Junior they have a new penalty for Blindsiding that can be a minor major or match depending on intent. They have had a specific rule for slewfoot penalties for a number of years now. The GO...

Re: 2016 SHOWCASE WEEKEND
If the foot or leg were used to "tackle" or take down the player, it would be a slewfoot, not a trip anymore. I believe this rule change has now been adopted at every level. I wasn't there, but if the foot/leg was used it is a good call and a well deserved suspension.

Re: Changes to GOJHL
Add Eric Lindros and Sidney Crosby to the list of players that shouldn't have played the game because they can't handle it. Someone that has never played the game might think a slewfoot is insignificant or even somewhat entertaining and that blindside hits to a players head when in a vulnerable posi...

Re: Changes to GOJHL
So,,,,,, are you saying the OHA has no position on player safety even after losing a top player from mid season through the Sutherland Cup and there is no reason to prevent these occurrences in the future? As for the suite of warm up violation rules where did I say this was a new OHA rule? The fact ...

Re: Changes to GOJHL
I wonder if the league considered any playing rule changes or areas to focus on? It would be a good idea for the GOJHL to address blindside hits like the OHL is doing. It will eventually come in. It would be much more useful than the focus we put on where goalies stand or if players flinch before th...

Re: 2016-17 Predictions
My predictions were mostly a shot in the dark. I could see London challenging for top spot, but the Flyers always seem to find a way in recent years. Great coaching goes a long ways at this level. LaSalle usually picks up some good kids from Jr.C, so I was just assuming they'll be a talented team t...

If you are there by about 10:00 you won't have much problem finding a spot, after that you are likely waiting for someone to leave. The fair goers fill the lot by noon and there is also a 4th pad that was running minor hockey games as well. Most scouts will know this from last year, next to the lack...

While I understand the frustration as well as the desire to know where when who your team is playing, I ask this. Can you do better? The issues lie with the league. When you look at the preseason schedule it shows Strathro...
