Re: cleaning house

Cleaning house should start at the top, not the bottom. The roof apparently ahs some leaks in it and no-one wants to fix it. I am sure that game-day operations for the most part were fine. But why tinker with something that isn't broken and works well? Yes the team is young and has a young coaching ...

Re: cleaning house

The person involved notified me of what had happened. The situation there is unfortunate. There are better ways to run an organization but stepping on toes near season's end is rather juvenile. Egos and bias are probably at the root of what is going on. Unfortunately I only know half the story.

Re: cleaning house

jeff, I had heard that earlier in the season some volunteers were swept aside, whether it was by their own actions or management I do not know. This recent one is particularly cruel the way it was handled. I guess face-to-face talks aren't in vogue anymore. It has to be tough getting an e-mail telli...

Heard that many Strathroy volunteers have been terminated; some specifically asked to cease all association with the club. New direction? That's what the "chiefs" say. Ousting longtime volunteers is heartless especially when there's no valid reason. If the Rockets are heading in a new dire...

Re: Two leave Strathroy for Jr.C

Not to mention that Mount Forest also picked up Ty Jackson (former Jr. B - Lambton Shores and Elmira). Whether it's players' dissatisfaction or just dangling carrots it appears that Strathroy will be greatly affected. Hard to replace netminders at this time of the season.

Re: OHA Club 90

Only reason I can Leamington and London not making the list is their "online presence" which as far as home website info goes could be better; LaSalle's exclusion may be due to management. All three are well-run organizations and probably should have been on that list - they couldn't have ...

Re: St marys/ Leamington

Lincs' #19 Matthew Philip apparently was sent down. Word has it that the Lincs have acquired Stars' forward Brody Smith via a trade. But nothing on GOJHL transactions yet confirming either move. Besides Philip the Lincs were missing Brandon Gloverr, plus back-up goalies Emanurel Vella and Ryan Langf...

It appears that both Ryan Valentini and Eric Henderson are only in St. Thomas for "tune-ups." Last night both players exhibited reasons why they will no be lingering very long in St. Thomas long. I am positive that the Stars and coach Darren Kelly accept that fact and will make adjustments...

PS Laugh of Day

Leave it to Pointstreak to give us a laugh or the day: new math too. Since when does 3+1+2 = 0 and 1+0=0 = 0 ?? Well according to the Guelph and Brampton game that's how the goals were scored (per period0 and what the total number of goals equal. PS bug?? Or operator error?? Either way it's embarras...

According to the GOJHL Record Book there has only been one other penalty-free contest since 2008 and a total of three previously in the West Conference: GOJHL Penalty‑Free Games: Chatham Maroons vs Leamington Flyers Feb. 18, 2010; Strathroy Rockets vs Sarnia Legionnaires Oct. 15, 2015 West Conferenc...

Yes, a goaltender cannot touch the puck beyond the red line. Rule 37 (e) states: If a goaltender intentionally participates in the play in any manner when beyond the centre red line, he/she will be assessed a Minor penalty.

Sarnia "new" program

This is a press release issued by the Sarnia Legionnaires about a "new program" ...well actually it may be packaged something new, but in reality, many West Conference teams have been doing these thing for many, many years, they just don't roll it into one entity and raise hoopla about it:...

Re: Trouble in Leamington?

As for the Flyers' captain - Piroski hinted at the year-end banquet that he was considering McGhee as a captain. Leamington has seldom had a captain of more than a two year term. Realistically, by rotating it, older players who are deserving of the role obtain their chance to show and develop their ...

Re: Flyers arena an advantage

The Heinz Arena in Leamington is Olympic size - 200 ft. in length by 100 ft. wide; many of the newer rinks are NHL size 200 by 90. So that extra 10 ft. in width can to be a huge difference. Kudos to both teams for a great performance on that massive ice surface.

A minimum 7 games for the discriminatory slur offense plus 2 for the travesty of game; so that brings it to a minimum of 9 games. Both penalties came post-game with the ref supervisor Jerry Pateman present. Some uncomplimentary words were screamed at the refs. Looks like Bullard is gone for the rest...

Many of the 70 shots were from close range but the Flyers tried shots from everywhere. was also fortunate Tugwell ate that several shots (which weren't counted) rang off the posts. In that first OT Leamington had the Nats hemmed in their own zone for about 15 minutes of he period and just kept firin...

Merlin in his 7 years as Lincs' coach (2003/04-2009/10) had four seasons where the team had 30+ wins and another when he was one shy of hitting that mark. It will take time for the young players who stay with the Lincs to adjust to Merlin's systems and there is no doubt the organization is looking t...

Port, you've got With those players just sitting and waiting they aren't developing their skills. Best for the players and the organization to trade them, get someone or some money for them or release them and let the players move on.
