World Juniors 2010-2011
Yep, the winter classic that I always enjoy begins tomorrow afternoon - at least here in Ontario. I'll be glued to TSN a lot over the next few days, following the Canadians as they try to return the favour to the American team. They won it last year here on Canadian soil, would be sweet if team Cana...

Came across this story and find it rather annoying that this type if stuff goes on at such low levels of hockey

Pat Burns
After a long battle with cancer, it is with sadness that I wish to announce the passing of Pat Burns - a coach who I actually enjoyed watching.
My sympathies are with his family and friends at this time.
RIP Pat.

Well the wise person I heard said this way ...
Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
OK, back to your argument.

Re: It's the Olmypics!!!
It is great to see the performance of our Canadians! 4 medals yesterday, at least 1 tonight, we are actually tied for the lead in Gold Medals! Great to see the success of our team. Gold medal game in Women's hockey tonight, Semi's in Men's tomorrow, playoffs in Jr B on Saturday, Men's Finals on Sun...

Re: It's the Olmypics!!!
don't forget the troubles the "Olympia" Ice machines had on the speed skating ice... Turns out Zamboni had to come in a rescue that portion. Yeah, I kind of forgot about that which is strange because on another board I frequent, the point was very clearly made that they weren't zambonis (...

Re: It's the Olmypics!!!
Well, we may not be "Owning the Podium" but the gold medal haul is looking pretty good. What I don't understand is that the standings are now based on total medals won when it used to be based on total gold medals won and before that they used a point system where they gave points down to ...

Re: It's the Olmypics!!!
Medal #4 was almost gold. After leading for most of the race, our snowboarder was a bit slow going over a bump and got passed near the end by an American. Considering our silver medal winner was a dark horse to win anything at all, congrats to him and the other 3 Canadian men boards. Women snowboard...

Re: World Juniors 09-10 Edition
During the Canada/US game, I actually had to leave the room for a while I was so underwhelmed by the play of the Canadian team. They did look better during their game against the Swiss but now with one of their top "D" out ... it's going to be difficult. The US are a good and fast team. If...

Re: World Juniors 09-10 Edition
Is no one other than I watching these games? If so, that's a pity. The game between Canada and the US last evening was an interesting one to watch. The Americans pretty much dominated the game for the first 40 minutes, then on came the Canadian squad I'm accustomed to seeing play. Still not a fan of...

World Juniors 09-10 Edition
Yep, it's that time of the year when hockey fans get to watch some of the best junior hockey teams from a multitude of countries. I've been reading some of the comments on TSN after the game write-ups. Guess I'm "seeing" some trash talking and it's almost funny. Think the game of Canada vs...

Also noticed that they use wins-losses-ties while our league uses wins-losses-ot losses-so losses
I can't quite figure out how they arrive at their numbers either. Would be helpful if they explained it.

Sarnia Torchbearer carries sixth ring
A 13-year old Sarnian will be a torchbearer for the Olympic torch when it makes it's way through our province. The young man - Tyler Vynckier - will be wearing a ring attached to a chain around his neck as a reminder of who he will be running for when he gets handed the torch on Dec 23 ... his step-...

Jumping the Queue
It would seem that it's not only NHL teams that are getting H1N1 shots out of turn but some Jr A teams as well. I was told there was an article in the LFP earlier this week that London Knights players got their shot and in today's Sarnia Observer, a front page headline reads Sting stung The gist of ...

Re: Hurricanes fire coach/gm
lol, I guess there are cases of it! I just don't see someone specifically buying a team just to let their son play. The owners may use it to their advantage to give their son more icetime, but I don't think they purchased the team for that reason. I know of at least two Sarnia owners who purchased ...

I was just looking at the transactions on Pointstreak and noticed this Guelph 11/02/09 Clarke, Adam () relieved of duties Who was this guy and why was he 'relieved of his duties'? I've noticed "relieved of duties" shows up any time a staff/coach is no longer with the team. I'm guessing it...

The "first week" of rankings last year came out Oct 13th. Perhaps no one wanted to step up and do the stats for it again this year?

I can confirm that TMG had his name years before those fans showed up. Those particular set of fans only showed up last season and haven't been seen since (I believe I heard they are now gracing another team with their presence this season). However, MG has been a member of this forum since 2005 and...

Bottom two who had to "fight" it out tonight and perform again were Marie France Dubreil and Stephan Richer vs. Kristina Lenko and Bob Probert. Leaving by a score of 16.3 to 16.6 were .... Lenko and Probert. I would think next week the hockey players might pick up more "skating" ...

I read somewhere (newspaper, I think) that some people weren't too happy with them and that there was ... shall we say ... too much "native" influence" on the sweater. From a distance and looking at the photos, I don't see what the fuss is - JMO of course.

Notice how when it's an American team that wants to be bought and brought to Canada he puts the kibosch on that pretty quick, but when it's a Canadian team being bought and moved to America, he has no qualms about it. Yeah, I remember he was pretty quick at removing some Canadian teams in other yea...
