Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

What would help with recruiting players is not selling them off every year in December and January. Ask their current coach how that was received this year in the room and his feelings on it. Go back over the years in Petrolia and Lambton ...... getting talented players (Sarfati, Fraser, Trottier, ...

Re: Annual AGM

I saw on twitter the OHA fee is increasing by 15%. That must be to help pay for new cages.

Re: Annual AGM

Only reason they were asked to leave was because they are, I assume, no longer a member in good standing! As for the control of the OHA, it is high time that the membership stands up for what is right and challenge the OHA's Stalinesque style of leadership. Quite frankly....other then the OJHL, wha...

"OHA President Karen Phibbs followed with a review of the Motions that were submitted prior to the AGM and announced a number of policy changes."

I assume details will follow at some point

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues

From the Elgin-Middlesex FAQ section "REGISTRATION for the 2015-2016 season is $2,000.00 payable in 3 monthly installments (post-dated cheques for Sept 1, Oct 1 and Nov 1 payable to EMHA). There are no admission fees to regular season or playoff games. Players can recoup part or all of their re...

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues

Why is it that in Ontario players are asked to fork out thousands of dollars to play but in other provinces they are not? It used to be free, and it included equipment, billets, transportation etc. For the teams that are getting 600+ fans per game they should be asking less or nothing to play. The O...

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues

All the AAA parents that paid $10K for their kid to play minor hockey can afford $5K for them to play Jr., So teams and leagues are willing to charge it. Those AAA games are also free to attend, and there is no souvenier revenue to help off set costs. Often enough players could get individual spons...

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues

Other than the teams mentioned above it isn't uncommon for players to be dinged for $1500-$2000 so yes as much as the GOJHL doesn't care to admit it, they are using a pay to play system too. The OJHL is significantly more and frequently they don't even cover the out of town players billets for that ...

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues

I personally think it will be more of a stream because many of the Cambridge and Thorold former players are up for grabs. I have only heard one GOJHL name regularly mentioned going to the BCHL but I am sure there will be more to come.

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues

I had an advisor try to convince me that the OJ was a better league than the BCHL. I think these some of these advisors get incentives from teams if they can steer players. I am not an OJ fan for many reasons, the daddy ownership issue made the league more about deep pockets than talent and destroye...

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues

From what I understand most of the OJ teams are pay to play just like minor hockey (or more) where as the other Jr A leagues in Canada are more traditional in the sense that the player is only on the hook for a smaller league administration fee and billets are included.

Re: why do players leave for the junior A leagues

I couldn't believe it tonight when Ron MacLean mentioned on Hockey Night in Canada that there are presently 147 Provincial Jr. A. players playing in the NHL. He mentioned on how that league produces a lot of players that make it to the NHL too. I believe it goes to show that major junior and ncaa a...
