Re: GOJHL Issues
I think it would be interesting to see if that did happen! Hockey Canada are not lawmakers despite what some of them have stated in the past. A good lawyer would tear that "suspension" to pieces. And quite frankly, HC doesn't need anymore bad PR! But, hoping that things resolve themselves ...

Re: GOJHL Issues
If the kids are good enough..the OHL will come knocking. HC will have no bearing on that. Sure the hockey purists would like to believe that HC would be able to influence the ownership of OHL teams but I beg to differ. Besides, there have been countless times where HC has taken NCAA players for it's...

Re: GOJHL Issues
For years, the talk about the GMHL was it was a pay to play league and wouldn't survive without sanctioning. It has grown..now the talent is not nearly the same but they have found their niche!! Again, I will ask...what does the OHA, OHF or HC provide to this league? Is there a National Championship...

Re: GOJHL Issues
The question is not "what is in the best interests of hockey". It is now about what is in the best interests of Hockey Canada amd has been for quite some time. I have been saying this for years that HC only cares about their golf vacays and international hardware. They will always use term...

Re: Guelph relocation to Cambridge
According to their Twitter, they are now the Cambridge RedHawks.... I'm an old Winterhawks fan, but wow. This is lame. I Would rather a fresh start for Jr B in Cambridge without much thought of the old Winterhawks and the Machado mess... Yah...would have liked to see them with fully fresh slate! Li...

If you want to fix the Midwest..bring in Woodstock!! Great community support and a great facility that would work for Junior B!

Re: Guelph relocation to Cambridge
Simple and in a nutshell...because the league has allowed them to do it! The question I have had for the last 18 months is quite frankly..what does the OHA do for the league? Other than sanctioning which is no big deal as there is no Natl Championship and creating division amongst the teams ie the l...

Guelph relocation to Cambridge
Guelph has relocated to the city of Cambridge! There will be junior hockey again in Cambridge!!
Great move by Guelph as they get into a location with a rabid fanbase and they take the onus off the OHA to get a team in Cambridge...something that might never have happened if it was left to the OHA!

Re: Buffalo, Pelham and Fort Erie Voted Out
To set the record straight the Pelham Panthers have not been apart of the GOJHL Inc since July of 2017. If you left the GOJHL last summer, then why did your team participate in GOJHL events, like the Showcase, Prospects Games and play-offs? https://media1.tenor.com/images/ae912561d8d8b00525024cebb2...

Re: Buffalo, Pelham and Fort Erie Voted Out
"Proud to be an OHA supporter"..maybe that is your first problem. And I will go on to say this...you don't want to be governed by the GOJHL, then out you go! You cannot have your cake and eat it too! If the GOJHL/Golden Horseshoe have any balls whatsoever, they make the schedule without yo...

Re: Buffalo, Pelham and Fort Erie Voted Out
I am not associated with any club withing the GOJHL or otherwise. I would however, like to see a copy of the GOJHL Constitution if you have a copy that you can send digitally. I have tried to locate it on the league website but it is not there to be found. I think it would make an interesting read. ...

Re: Buffalo, Pelham and Fort Erie Voted Out
TT, Leagues do govern themselves according to their OWN Constitutions, Rules and Regs, and By-laws. The fact that the OHA has refused to recognize this doesn't mean that this is not the case. In fact, within the writings of the letter you posted it says and I quote "they have made it clear that...

Re: Buffalo, Pelham and Fort Erie Voted Out
TT, The issues, as I see them are the fact that the OHA has their hands in the cookie jar! Are they the governing body for junior hockey in Ontario, yes. That, at this time cannot be disputed. But the fact remains, the GOJHL, PJHL and the OJHL SHOULD BE FREE to operate their leagues within their OWN...

Re: Buffalo, Pelham and Fort Erie Voted Out
Mr. Toffolo, Whether the GOJHL has or does not have a war chest is irrelevant. If you don't think this happens at other levels, maybe you should contact Alliance or the OMHA who have stockpiled MILLIONS to protect against legal issues arising from past, and sadly future, sexual assaults that have ha...

Re: Buffalo, Pelham and Fort Erie Voted Out
The Golden Horseshoe could leave the GOJHL tomorrow and they would STILL operate within the OHA!! They are a "league" which is apart of the GOJHL. I assume back in the day the powers that be decided to combine the GH, MW and WJ leagues for more power in any and all decisions of the leagues...

Still not competitive enough in my opinion. Sure they are not losing by 15+ everynight but even competirive teams will win more than 2 games a year.

Re: Where is Everyone?
Well said!! I have not neen here that long and I am in OJHL territory. That being said, I think the talent in the upper tier of this league is on par with the OJ. No question about that. What sets this league apart is the fact that there ARE established rivalries. Those rivalries, in turn, make the ...

Before the Jr Sabres and all their money...the Regals were a very respected organization. In fact, they were the cream of the crop for AAA hockey in the NY state area! There are just too many options out there for players in the WNY area.
