Re: St. Marys
The general assumption held by many is that if the West could land another franchise then the Lincs would move to the MidWest to balance out the conferences. Even then that would be a tough decision. St. Marys is an honoured franchise and most West followers would hate to see them leave, including m...

Well what I thought was pretty cool was that #SutherlandCup was trending on twitter. That's impressive to be in the top 10 throughout Canada. It makes you realize how important our league is.

Re: Waterloo, London Suthy Finals
Caledonia needed 7 games to win over St. Catharines too. I think that was the following year and the first 3 in a row for the Corvairs. Not sure though.

Re: London Nationals/Leamington Flyers
The Falls' PP is certainly deadly clicking at 38%. London's is 22% despite having a slow start in the first 2 rounds. In the finals against the Flyers, the Nats were 7 for 17 (41.2%) and 6 for 10 (60%) in the last 3 games against a team that had the 3rd best penalty killing in the regular season. Th...

Re: Leamington Komoka series
As a hockey fan, I'd love to see the Flyers win tonight so I can see a game seven. There's nothing like a game 7! The Flyers have played quite poorly on the road this season and have had problems holding onto leads in this series. Regardless who wins tonight, the game should be a dandy!

Re: Leamington Komoka series
The Flyers don't have a lot of offensive punch. They certainly miss regular season scoring leader Adam Jeffery who has yet to play in this series. Ryan Gagnier, who was a 20-goal scorer in the regular season, has just 1 goal in 8 playoff games. Others need to pick up the slack or they could be on th...

Usually a popular thread in the postseason, but not this year for some reason. I'll take a stab at it. Not necessarily my hopes, but my expectations - Flyers, Nats, Maroons all sweep in 4, the Legion in 7.

FINAL RACES
As we head into the final week of the regular season we have 3 tight races remaining. Chatham is locked in 3rd, Komoka in 6th and St. Marys in 9th. The other seeds are all up for grabs. Leamington leads London by 1 point for 1st. The Flyers host Chatham and go to Komoka The Nats host both St. Thomas...

Re: Goalie scores empty netter in 2O/T
https://london.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=1613783 The same thing happened the previous Saturday in Strathroy. LaSalle pulled their goaltender on a rush out off their zone in double OT looking for the extra point. It backfired as the Rockets got the puck out of their zone and scored in thr empty net, al...

Re: Strathroy vs LaSalle
With about 9 seconds left the Vipers made a long stretch pass from deep in their zone (with their goaltender still in the net) up the sideboards to the Rocket blueline. They pulled the goalie then. After an attempt at a goal the puck went to the opposite side of the rink where Fancy managed to get t...

Re: Leamington to take the Division?
The Flyers have been a strong third period team all season. Need to play a full 60 come playoff time. The Rockets' injured keeper Michelizzi was dressed as back up last night but took zero shots in warmup. Rockets don't play for a week. Maybe he will be ready by next Saturday.

Re: Strathroy goalie
The Rockets' #1 Vince Michelizzi was hurt in the second period vs St. Marys at home on a 2 on 1 play on January 19. He exited the game at that point and has not returned. Rockets have been 0-3 since that time. The Rockets had lost their leading scorer Emmet Pierce the game before when the London Kni...

Re: Chatham Maroons 1 Win in last 6 ??
They are a puzzling team. In their second last trip in Strathroy just before Christmas they played great in a 4-1 win. They appeared to come in wth a plan. They were structured, employed an aggressive forecheck, attacked the puck carrier and utilized a neutral zone trap that the Rockets couldn't cra...

Re: Strathroy
For some odd reason the refs have given coaches way too much leeway. It has been getting progressively worse every year. No way would the on-ice officials allow the bench staff to get away with this sort of behaviour years ago - and I'm not picking on the Chatham staff. I didn't see their behaviour ...

1 goal, 2 shots and a +1, pretty good start in a 4-3 loss. The Rockets will miss his shots in particular but everyone else will have to dig a little deaper. He averaged 4 shots a game with the Rockets. Harris, who has been out for a while averages almost 5. That is close to 10 shots a game that need...

Wednesday I suffered through another LaSalle Viper broadcast when they played Strathroy. There is no audio in LaSalle - just dead air. Now I know what it is like to be deaf and go to a hockey game. LaSalle has been that way for the past couple years as has Strathroy. Due to some sort of difficulties...

I must say I was disappointed in the Hockey TV broadcasts of these two games. Unlike last year there was no play by play or colour commentary. It is very difficut to follow when you aren't familiar with the players and their numbers (if you can even read numbers from that distance) however on the po...

Re: Flyers Lose to last place team???
Flyers have yet to win on the road this season (0-2-1-2) and the Rockets played like there was a firing squad out behind West Middlesex if they didn't win that game. I saw too many passengers for the Flyers last night. All engines have to be firing. Great end to end action. Very entertaining game. L...
