Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
The divisions are the same, nothing has changed except the crossover games don't count. St Catherines is still in the Shoe, London is still in the West. The OHA had already ruled that Inc cant create their own loop and exclude the other members. Also note it is GOJHL Inc that charges the $750 per h...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
Finally, the GOJHL has posted the regular season schedule. To no ones surprise, it looks similar to every other year except the showcase games are now just part of the preseason schedule as they always should have been. League now starts Sept 10th in Hamilton. Looks like league is now a 48 game sche...

London Nationals have acquired 20 year old defence man Noah Tooke from the OJHL Aurora Tigers. Tooke is a lLondon native that has played the past 2 seasons in Jr A with Whitecourt Wolverines (AJHL) and Carleton Place ( CCHL). Tooke formerly played in the GOJHL as well.

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
If that statement is true that you make about scouting, why is over the last 5 consecutive years the West and Mid West have received more scholarships than the Horseshoe. Don't believe it, go check it out like i did. Commitment and Scholarship aren't the same thing. If your research is limited to t...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
RagingBS, You mention that the players with 2 leagues now to choose from will go to where they see the best opportunities for themselves. I agree with that statement. Now look at the make up of the 15 GOJHL.Inc teams and compare it to the make up of the 10 GOJHL teams and tell me where you honestly...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
Your need to use better terminology there oldtymer. Pelham has NOT opted out of the league. They have only opted out of the Inc organization. They opted out of the GOJHL . The showcase is run by the GOJHL and from what I understand they were allowed to play in it if they paid a fee. Welland, NF and...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
The damage has been done. I doubt that some of these teams can operate in a co operative setting again. There is just too much bad blood now. Looking forward to 2019-20, the OHA will be more open to the OJHL locating some teams further West. London maybe an ideal market for this. Inc clubs will be o...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
Here's an update on the schedule situation. Apparently, they have two completed schedules ready to go depending on the final decision. http://www.bpsportsniagara.ca/falcons-may-fly-away/ Why would the OHF entertain the idea of forcing a league realignment that increases travel expenses for almost e...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
Nothing yet on the league website. With less than a full complement of teams it may just go down as an exhibition tournament and the other teams can do their own tournament whenever/if they see fit. The games shouldn't count in the standings. I am not sure refering to it as a "League Showcase&q...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
If you ask players and owners why players are choosing other leagues you will get very different answers. Players will cite cost, cages, lack of exposure, poor rule enforcement and a too many unknowns. Owners claim some players are greedy, letter chasing, lack commitment, gullible victims of poacher...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
20 year olds get lured to the PJHL every year to play an extra year. 2018-19 is no exception. What is different are the number of 20 year old players going to the OJHL, the NOJHL, the WSHL and other leagues this year. You would be a fool to assume the PJHL is the only alternative for then.

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
The OHA is also behind on player appeals, I know their are multiple players wanting out of leamington but still haven't got dates yet. Re: 2018/2019 Schedule

This year is different. There is a squabble going on between two blocks of teams. With this issue uns...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
Either way this issue won't be settled this year. A solution needs to be imposed by either the OHF or Hockey Canada if this drags on much longer. If Inc wants to split the league up, they can plan it for 2019-20 when all can do what is best for the players involved. That is whos interests the league...

Re: 2018-19 Signings
The Panthers are one of several tennants, Pelham minor hockey and STA are the prime users of ice. It is a modern community center that will draw income from several sources not just GOJHL games. As for attendance it is plummeting across the OHA not just in the Niagara peninsula.

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
I think all the hockey gods outside of the GO walls know that there is a ton of talent in the GO and that is why its so well scouted, more than the general public would realize! The Jr A leagues are all aware that SW Ontario is deep in talent. The GOJHL becomes the beneficiary of that talent due to...

What does a GOJHL Commissioner do? That is the $431,250 question. Re: 2018/2019 Schedule
The GOJHL is always one of the last leagues to publish a schedule, but this is even late by their own standards. Their league showcase is only 4 weeks away. GOJHL Inc claims that the showcase is one of their events so it is still unknown if all teams will be attending with the squabble still unresol...

Re: Fans of the 'new' Kilty's must (like me) wonder what's happening...
I suspect the league will appear similar as it has in the past. A change in structure this late in the summer is in no one's best interest. I expect that this split in philosophy will not end until the league partners accept that junior hockey is not the same as it was in past years. Not long ago wh...

Re: 2018-19 Signings
Since the leagues are not similarly classified I don't believe an encroachment argument exists. As I understand it the OHA footprint goes from Windsor to Kingston. Within that foot print they have one Jr A league under the CJHL, namely the OJHL. The GOJHL is the OHA only JrB league. Since Brantford ...
