Re: Wall continues to shine in latest win vs Rockets
He played stellar. The only goal he allowed was a fluke. It was a shoot-in that took a strange bounce off the backboards and came out in front of the net.

Re: St Thomas
There was a lot of talk around Leamington on Thursday that there is a very good chance that Valentini and/or Henderson will not finish the season with the Stars.

The match in Sarnia was indeed a penalty free game. As for Penalty-free games - only 2 ever in GOJHL history; 4 total in the West Conference. GOJHL Penalty Free Games: Chatham Maroons vs Leamington Flyers Feb. 18, 2010 Strathroy Rockets vs Sarnia Legionnaires Oct. 15, 2015 West Conference Penalty Fr...

Re: Eric Henderson Joins St Thomas
St. Thomas is a stone's throw from London. Leamington is two hours away. Leamington is not the type of organization that would hold a boy back. It is in his best interest to be close to the Knights. My guess is he likely practices with both the Knights and the Stars. A similar situation happened a f...

I've seen a lot of kids go home because they are homesick, both at this level and from my time in the OHL. I recall a boy from our league leaving a NCAA Division I scholarship and going home because he was homesick.

Re: London Game
Now I've been told that Leamington has paid upwards of $3000 to get the system running in their rink. Costs will vary from team to team. Some clubs will be lucky because the city will put the line in for them. I have also been told (not sure if it is true) that Rogers owns fasthockey. Because of tha...

Re: London Game
I'm afraid that most teams are going to have a kid with a camera on a tripod following the puck up and down the ice with no zoom and no play-by-play. That's a pretty boring way to watch a hockey game. Depending on their distance from the ice it might look like a bunch of ants chasing a black dot. If...

I haven't subscribed yet. I too was waiting for some feedback. The WMMC in Strathroy had internet installed a few years ago but it is only wifi and not fast enough for this service. We are waiting for the town to install the proper speed. I was to get a call when it is in so I can go down and test i...

I've seen Gangnon play twice now against the Rockets and Brooks (LaSalle) once. Gangnon was outstanding in both games. I could hardly notice Brooks on the ice. In the early going it certainly looks like Leamington got the better player.

Re: Flyers win thriller vs Falcons to sweep weekend showcase
Typically, I've see that the better teams, and Caledonia and St. Catharines certainly fit that bill, can usually adjust very well. On weaker teams the defense struggles. If they play too close together they will get around them up the boards all night, if they play too far apart they will bust them ...

Re: Flyers win thriller vs Falcons to sweep weekend showcase
Are there any Olympic sized ice surfaces (200 x 100) in the Golden Horseshoe or the MidWest? Both London and Leamington play on Olympic ice. Some teams really struggle on the big ice. They really need to adjust.

Re: HURRICANES 9 ROCKETS 2
It was a tough thing to watch. Felt sorry for all those new kids having their families watch them be toyed with by a much better club. Guelph was very nice about it. A lot of sportsmanship. It really did look like men playing against boys. It reminded me of a Kickoff Weekend in Leamington a number o...

Re: New Season
I feel that the new import rule certainly puts the lower market teams at a disadvantage. It will be very hard for them to ever win a title. Teams with lots of cash can afford to hire a larger scouting and recruiting staff. The teams with the best programs and reputations will attract the best player...

Flyers mentioned the key word there - "recruiting". Now more than ever before scouting and recruiting can make the biggest difference on a team's success. Teams used to rely on enough talented local kids to give you a competitive club. Recruiting could only go so far because of the import ...

The first thing I think of with the new season coming upon us is coaching. With the exception of Chatham and Strathroy, the other clubs have very solid, experienced, rell respected head coaches. A lot of inexperience at the helm in Chatham and Strathroy. Roeszler does have a year under his belt in C...
