Re: Golden Horseshoe Leaving?
I can't agree more joehockey. Mark Ellis was our commissioner and was part of the driving force to bring us together as 1 league. When Brent Ladds retired, Mark moved up in the OHA and it left the commissioner spot open. So that's been about 2 seasons now, and the management of the GOJHL has declin...

Re: GOJHL Blog
Obviously the West is the best. We're not the ones trying to leave.
I'm just trying to cover more of the league, and get the other 2 interested and involved, but since the Shoe wants out of the GOJHL, perhaps I should just ignore them and focus on the Mid-West.

Re: GOJHL Blog
Well I asked LaSalle on Sat. for 2 kids to talk to, I was told sure, we'll let you know, and then didn't hear anything more. If the teams want to help me with it, they will, if they don't, they won't. I'm not going to hound them about it, I've already emailed them all back in Sept. asking for profi...

Re: Checking from behind Game misconduct
I was going to make that comment, that sometimes the refs call the penalties worse than they really are. Safety is obviously the No. 1 concern of, not just the OHA, but everybody, but, in my opinion, sometimes the calls are a little overkill. Now, I wasn't at the game in LaSalle on Wed., but accord...

If you haven't noticed, anything from the blog, I'm just posting it here, rather than making a new topic each time. This season, I had a personal goal of making it onto the radio. I was the 2nd intermission guest with Chris Soares of 105.7 MyFM on Oct. 24 when the Rockets were in St. Thomas. I've r...

Re: Golden Horseshoe Leaving?
Personally, I didn't really get a lot out of it other than that there is absolutely nothing that would hold back the Shoe from breaking away. Gibby said that he's looked at our Constitution, the OHA Constitution, and Hockey Canada's Constitution, and there's nothing that would prevent it from happe...

If you want some legit information on this developing story and want some background, Dan Gibson, Rockets GM and member of the GOJHL Board, will be live on air during the 1st intermission of the Rockets/Vipers game tonight to talk about it. You can catch it on 105.7 MyFM, http://www.strathroytoday....

Re: Golden Horseshoe Leaving?
It's still the Jr. B championship, it's just that they amalgamated the 3 Jr. B leagues into the GOJHL. That's how they can pull out and become the Golden Horseshoe League again and still compete for the Sutherland Cup because they'd still be classified as Jr. B.

Golden Horseshoe Leaving?
Read an article today in the Stratford Beacon Herald that the Shoe wants to leave the GOJHL and become an independent league again, but they'd still compete for the Sutherland Cup.

Re: Congrats Strathroy
It's a real cowbell, not 1 of those cheap ones with a paperclip. It's survived the last 7 years, and it survived last night. It was 1 of the most intense games I've been to in a while, and it was a typical Strathroy Sarnia game. Our teams just eminate pure hatred towards each other. Best rivalry in...

Ask and you shall receive. Email response to me from Scott Holland. Modern era for all GOJHL teams is technically 1978/79, when the OHA divided Jr. B leagues into several geographical areas which evolved into the 3 conferences we know today. Prior to 1991, there was also the Metro Jr. B league whic...

Re: Early Season surprises
I'm surprised to see London at the bottom, but I knew they were going younger this year because Kelly's been told if he wants to make it to the OHL, he has to coach a younger team. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next couple months they ditch some of the young'uns for some 20 year olds. My boys b...

I know I saw a gentleman from the Knights there. I'm pretty sure the place was packed with scouts though, I just don't know where they were all from, and I really don't pay attention to them. I'm there for the hockey. Truthfully, the entire day is just so busy going between the 3, previously 4, rin...

I'm told by Scott Holland that Davis Boyer has now tied the GOJHL record for most goals in a game, at 6, but has now set the record for most points in a game, 8 points. He has not passed Sarnia's team record though.

Re: Results from Viper/Preds game??
I say it every year, but the amount of money that is shelled out every season for this program, there is no reason that it shouldn't work properly. I understand that some arenas have bad internet connections, so that's something that can't be avoided, but to have the game stuck at 19:58 of the firs...

According to a post on the Great Lakes Jr. C forum on Sun., CKSN spoke to both Cato and Davis and he hadn't signed, as of Sun. It's now Tues. and it may be done. I don't doubt that Davis wants this kid, but remember, they only have 25 cards for the season, and they've already used 23. Edit: My bad,...

Re: Flyers vs Maroons Protest
I'm surprise there hasn't been any fire Davis comments yet  I actually made the comment lately that Szekesy should really re-evaluate his relationship with Davis because it's costing him a lot of money in fines. Which then the response was, as long as they win a championship, it doesn't matter.

Re: Flyers vs Maroons Protest
This is in the Chatham Daily News today. The Maroons already have seven defencemen, but only six were available Sunday. John Bowen served a one-game suspension for picking up a pair of 10-minute misconducts in the final 10 minutes of the Sept. 12 season opener in St. Thomas. Bowen played in the win...
