Re: Nationals stun Maroons in opener
It's pretty rare though. Only once in league history has a 7th seed (St. Thomas) upset a 2nd seed (Strathroy). Wrong, it's happened at least twice that I know of in the last 10 years. In the 2011-2012 season, Strathroy was 7th and took out 2nd place Leamington in the first round and then 1st place ...

Re: Big Sunday Night
So from reading this it seems that everything is reviewed in the playoffs as opposed to automatic suspensions? I'm not up to snuff on the new systems I guess but it reads that everything is reviewed as opposed to automatics? I'm not sure what reading to get that they're reviewed. Fine Options As co...

Re: Big Sunday Night
You can't buy back suspensions anymore. Over the last few years they've decreased which suspensions you could buy back and last year they took the option away completely.

Re: Nationals stun Maroons in opener
I noticed last night that there were a few Maroons that were trying to do it all themselves. It's like the team is working as individuals, and not as a team, and that's part of their problem.

Re: Strathroy pushed to brink of elimination
The fact is that we haven't played a full 60 minutes in these 3 games, but we deserved that win today and we got screwed! This series should be 2 1 and not 3 0, but it is what it is. My boys gotta go out there Tues and work their asses off, but play a good game and know that your fans are behind yo...

Re: Nationals stun Maroons in opener
Battisti does the same thing. I'm pretty sure Ouellet does too. In fact, all goalies do it. Until the league mandates some peg changes, the goalie is going to get the benefit of the doubt every time. I haven't seen a game yet, but I knew that Roeszler's inexperience coaching in the play-offs was go...

Re: Quarter Final Matchups
I'd heard about the league meeting that they had a few weeks ago and was told that they had a social media 'expert' there. One of the things that was discussed was having official hashtags for things. I noticed last night on Twitter, which I think they have them on Facebook too, but I'm not into th...

Re: Quarter Final Matchups
I'm slowly but surely making my blog pages for the 8 play-off series. I have 3 pages so far, Elmira vs. Brampton, Kitchener vs. Listowel, LaSalle vs. Strathroy. I'll post more tomorrow after tonight's games.

Re: Quarter Final Matchups
There's just not enough hours in the day for me to try and put together 1 for the Shoe. I've already been working on the MW one since Wed. or Thurs. last week, and I'm not done it yet. That's tonight's project.

Re: Quarter Final Matchups
It says something to the caliber of your Conference when your top team is 44-3-2.
And it doesn't mean I won't be making predictions when we get to the Sutherland Cup, I'm just not doing it now with the Conference play-offs. I have enough on my plate covering 8 series, I'm not adding another 4.

Re: Quarter Final Matchups
I look forward to RG's playoff preview. I should have them posted tomorrow. I'm mostly waiting for the schedules to be finalized and posted, which I'm told they have to done tonight, but I also have to finish writing my MW Preview. Please note that I'm not doing a preview for the Shoe. I'm not prep...

Re: Guelph player
I've seen Kudla play twice and although he's listed as a defenceman and lines up on defence for face-offs, I'm not sure he actually is. He doesn't spend a lot of time back there, he's always rushing the puck, he always has the puck. I was talking to someone last night and they seem to think that up...

Re: Chatham @ Lambton Shores Feb 14
I think there is a little more to it ! Chatham still fighting for 2nd place ! I couldn't see them not wanting to play to try and clinch 2nd ! That was just what I'd heard, didn't mean I actually believed it. I'm pretty sure the OHA would make them play that game regardless if it had meant anything ...

Re: Chatham @ Lambton Shores Feb 14
That's what happens when there's only 1 week left.
I'd heard something that Chatham was considering not playing this game, but since Feasey's in the hunt for the GOJHL scoring title, they're playing it.

Re: Congrats
Despite what some believe, no they are not. The Golden Horseshoe is a separate Conference from the rest of the GOJHL. And no, I'm not the only person who believes this, the OHA views them as separate too.

Re: Developing 17 year old players
So, is your question which teams are better at developing in general, or developing those 17, or even 18 year olds, to stay within their club or the GOJHL until they're 20 and develop them for university hockey after they've graduated from Jr? Sometimes it depends on the kid as well. Sometimes you ...

I just saw this on Facebook. It's a photo of the 402 overpass at Centre Road, Strathroy looking West, towards Sarnia.
It's a good reason to stay home if you're out in that area.
