Re: GOJHL AGM Today
Let's play devil's advocate here. So Welland has come out saying they're not charging anything beyond the $400 for the OHA. It was said above that St Catharines was $1000, probably on top of the $1100 for OHA and GOJHL. You have a kid that's looking at possibly signing with either club. For the sak...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
Who enforces these rules ? Who stops a team like Sarnia who supposedly has 1200 paying fans per game so approximately $10,000 per game x 27 home games for approximately $270,000 before playoffs saying to all their recruits "hey come play here, there is no cost, we supply equipment and 5 sticks...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
Its definitely not a cheap sport for players or owners which is why I find it surprising that the free to play issue keeps getting brought up. The owners need to have deep pockets to keep some these Junior teams alive. The OHL can do it as they have a large fan base but when you draw 200 fans to a g...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
It looks like a few teams are starting to advertise their position on this and plans for the upcoming season. "A number of players have asked "What does it cost to play for the Welland Jr. Canadians?" All players are required to pay the OHA Annual Player Registration Fee for 2018-19....

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
It’s not head scratching at all. The Ten teams which is rumoured to have grown to 14 that refuse to leave the OHA,OHF,and HC. The others do not want to leave but want it their own way. A few guys want to control hockey. The word is the OHA put out a final letter and either they a in the OHA or they...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
Wow!! How do few guys that want to take over hockey ever get this far. Greed!!! Greed and more greed!!! What’s worse is that the falcons and warriors are on their side. Falcon true red coats would turn over in their graves. What are they thinking or not?? The city of St Catharines and Stratford wil...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
So let me understand your reasoning.. players will leave because of the pay to play setup . With the new league, it is most likely that players will still have to pay to play on Pelham, Buffalo or Hamilton but they won't leave now ?? Now if the team owners charge the players less due to the lower OH...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
Either you are one of the owners or you are drinking the Kool-Aid. The concern over the pay2play is absolutely ridiculous . The dissenting teams charge amongst the highest rates they can. They might even charge more going forward now that they are out from under the GOJHL. To say that they are doing...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today

They have moved five times in five years (Washington state - Hidalgo Texas - Rio Grande - Philadelphia - Jamestown ) That does not seem l...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
So the site can't even be kept up to date? Someone took the time to update Hamilton and Lockport as teams but cant update these new rumoured divisions? And you ask why players are reluctant to fork over another $750 of their hard earned money annually. The teams update pointstreak individually. And...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
Sorry a bit confused here on this situation... You have 25 teams in the GOJHL .. based on previous comments it appears that 17 of the 25 ( 70%) will vote to stay in the GOJHL under their rules ( payment go to GOJHL) . If the majority of the teams ( >51%) appear to be siding with the GOJHL, can being...

Re: St.Catharines vs Ancaster thread
I have not been watching much Junior B this year but was able to watch the Ancaster/ St Catherines game last night. Other than Savory's goaltending, I am not sure how the Falcons have won two games. Again other than the goaltending this team seems to have declined quite a bit from the past few years...

Re: Cambridge
I am pretty sure that if they sever ties and does not renew then he loses his rights to this franchise. The league would then be able to put another franchise in that city if someone wants to and the league approves. From what I understand the cards (OHA) of the current players will transfer to the ...

Re: Cambridge
Why could the league not put another Junior B team in Cambridge ? As the owner made the decision to sever ties with the league, they should be able to do this. The owner does not have rights to the Cambridge Junior B team in perpetuity particularly since it was his decision to leave. I believe that ...

Interesting conversations ... the fact is London is playing Elmira .. end of story . Coulda, woulda , shoulda means squat, zip, nil nothing . The top two teams are London and Elmira .. end of story. Give them their due .. Everyone else lost ..

I had a feeling he'd pop up. Predictable. He doesn't represent the Falcons!! Just making sure we all know that! Oh I know. Falcons are a great team and organization. Had a great season. The Falcons like to have the Corvairs in the Shoe. I've heard they fought to keep them in the Shoe ...

Re: Sutherland Cup Semi Finals; Caledonia vs Elmira
Because he could! 2 and 3 years ago they were only a couple of bounces away from losing to St. Catharines and LaSalle in the final with fewer amount of 20 year olds. Once he enjoyed the success of last year's juggernaut there would be no going back. You could be right. But is the money needed to do...

Re: More on the Caledonia Rule
I am not sure anyone indicated that the "Caledonia" rule would impair the Corvairs to the point where they were part of the pack. With their resources they simply adjusted and went out and got the best 18, 19 and limited # of 20 year olds that they could acquire Even if the league changed ...

Re: More on the Caledonia Rule
Did people actually think anything would change? It was pretty obvious it was gonna happen. Plus u keep on taking shots at the team and how they aren't gonna be able to beat everybody anymore because of the rule. U just added another reason to try and beat everybody. Teams like Caledonia, st kitts,...

Re: Coach Mike Bullard
Give full credit to the Falcon organization for maintaining their position as #2 in the league ( so far) given the competition with the Dogs ( now Friday nights as well). It cannot be easy to attract fans or advertisers as all of the efforts seem to be on the Junior A team. Easier to keep faithful ...

Re: Coach Mike Bullard
Actually Thorold has won as many Sutherlands as St Catharines. Of note, GM of Thorold and St Catharines Suthy Cup Champions, was Frank Girhiny. Girhiny two, Canucks two. So now you are taking credit for Girhiny success when he was with the Hawks .. really ! Thought they were different organizations...

What does the crowd of the falcons games have to do with anything here in this convo. Corsairs get about 150 fans on average they still win every game. Your post was pointless here it really was. Re: Coach Mike Bullard
The point is that you can't go by record to determine who is a better coach. Masterson won 2 Sutherlands and might have been 3 in a row between 96 and 98. Was that due to pure talent or coaching. Bullard won 4 in a row but also had the resources. I would suggest Bullard has even better resources th...

Re: Coach Mike Bullard
This is no different than my opinion of Terry Masterson formerly of the NF Canucks. Great record but always was able to re-load due to resources ($). Terry is now coaching the Niagara Whalers who currently sport a record of 20-1 . I almost spit my drink out reading this. Only similarity between Mas...

Re: Coach Mike Bullard
Bully in my mind is one of the best coaches in the league to. If you look at our team last year for a while they didn't play very well. When you have all these talented forwards who think they are elite players in the league it's hard to get them to ply together. Last year he made a lot of players ...
