2018-2019 Season Predictions

Back with the same format as the last two years. Here is my predictions. Have seen 6 of 8 teams in pre-season games thus far. Sad I won't be in St. Catharines this weekend, but oh well. Let's get the season going. Team Standings 1. Elmira - Goodwin/Cameron/Dubecki could light it up, depth up front a...

Re: 2018-19 Predictions

Other than Lansink and Herrfort, Listowel is made up mostly of young rookies this year. Elmira, Waterloo and Kitchener are the teams with experience coming back this year from what I've seen in pre-season. Some mix of them at the top. Cambridge, Listowel and Stratford in the next pack as younger tea...

Re: GOJHL Issues

If the kids are good enough..the OHL will come knocking. HC will have no bearing on that. Sure the hockey purists would like to believe that HC would be able to influence the ownership of OHL teams but I beg to differ. Besides, there have been countless times where HC has taken NCAA players for it'...

It also effects minor hockey there, so not just the junior teams ownership.

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule

I disagree, allowing an unsanctioned organization like INC to dictate how a sanctioned league will operate and who is allowed to participate would be the definition of letting the inmates run the asylum. Right now the GOJHL squabble story is getting known coast to coast. That isn't a compliment. GO...

Not sure what the issue is with the other 7. Can't put on an event like the GOJHL Showcase for free. So...

Re: 2018/2019 Schedule

Let me try to simplify this for you. If you are an older player, what exposure are you getting after 2 showcase games (if not with an OHL team at the time) during the remainder of the season? Maybe a player of the month award? If a team has 6 20 year olds, 7 19 year olds, 5 18 year olds, 3 17 year ...

Need the right people. Any time I've asked around at Ayr games, Paris games, Cambridge games... Re: 2018/2019 Schedule

What does a GOJHL Commissioner do? That is the $431,250 question. He has nothing to do with creating a league schedule or the release of information or even ensuring that issues are resolved in a timely manner. One has to ask what his function might be. If you think the Commish makes 440K, you're s...

We forget that in BC they have one league. In Ontario, there's the GOJ, OJ, CCHL, NOJ. Re: GOJHL AGM Today

All teams remain under the OHA as long as they pay their OHA fees which they all have. The issue is that three teams in the shoe did not pay their GOJHL fees last year but still received the privileges of playing in the GOJHL. It appears that this should have been dealt with last year as other team...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today

The "dissenting teams" for the most part see cost as a reason for key player departures. It shouldn't cost a player more to play at the Jr B level than Jr A, but it cost less or nothing to play Jr A in at least 4 Canadian leagues. As an example lets say a player pays 2K for league and tea...

What value do the group of 17 see in GOJHL INC. that the other 8 teams apparently do not see? The league fees pay for league initiatives. I'd say the NCAA route is way over rated. Kids get buried there, see limited ice time and its not all made out to be what it is promoted to be. I'd stay in Canada where there's so much choice and movement between clubs and leagues that you should be able to find a fit., If your good enough you will...

The GOJHL showcase is too early. Most new talent wont see the ice much because they are feeling out the league still. Top end returnees are often in OHL camps of haven't even had a practice with the team and are thrown into games. Better leagues operated there's end of September or Early October wh...

Last season's Oct , Dec and Jan deadlines seem to have funneled in quite a few Junior A player's into the GO, but having watched some throughout the league they never really stock out or made positive impacts to the team, their skating and hockey skill were less to be desired for the most part. I guess this is the best way to get a JR-A team. Maybe this is what other owners of JR-B teams that wanted to go JR - A should have done.
