Re: Charity Exhibition Game
That would be interesting growing up in St.Kitts I remember exhibition games between the Black Hawks and Falcons for charity back in the early 1970's Back in those days, the Falcons were somewhat of a farm team for the Hawks . Many of the Hawks came up from the Falcons ( Pay, Scott, Craig). The gam...

Charity Exhibition Game
I think that once the season ends the Caledonia Corvairs should challenge the Trenton Golden Hawks to an exhibition game with all proceeds going to various charities. This would gauge just how good this Corvair team is and put an end to a lot of trash talk on this board. I remember this same situati...

Re: Caledonia(1) vs Waterloo(4), Sutherland Cup Semifinals Playoff Thread, & Predictions
I think their gonna need more than just motivation. Cali is a whole different beast than Kitchener. If people they think Stratford is physical than they better keep their heads up or their gonna drop like flys. I hope Waterloo can make the games close but I'm not counting on it if they play like th...

Re: Caledonia(1) vs Waterloo(4), Sutherland Cup Semifinals Playoff Thread, & Predictions
Caledonia in 4....scoring 35-40 goals I love playing the goal guessing game... I'll say they score 25. :) The first game should be the lowest scoring as each team needs time for the feeling-out process. Once the Corvairs figure out the Siskins game plan I think the scores should elevate from there....

Re: Stratford(2) vs London(3), Sutherland Cup Semifinal Predictions
Big difference in the rinks. It is a noisy nut house in Stratford and a morgue in London. Have to keep your head screwed on tight in Stratford and try not to fall asleep in London. Certainly from atmosphere and a fan standpoint Stratford would have the advantage. Looking forward to watching the ser...

Pointstreak
I was looking at the gamesheet of Alliston and Port Hope last night and it looked like there were only 2 shots on goal in the second perod and then an onslaught in the third. Must be a typo. Nah....not on Pointstreak.

Re: Last Team Standing
Grimsby always has a good team. They have not been able to reach the plateau of those powerhouse teams of 2003 and 2004 in recent years though. Even their victory over Alliston a few years back was more a result of solid goaltending (Brad Pope) than anything else.

Congrats to the Caledonia Corvairs on capturing their 3rd straight league title. :D :smt023 :smt026 :smt028 :smt033 :smt029 A perfect 12-0! Despite what the haters say, this didn't come easy. Many nights they were forced to defeat both their opponent, and the officials. They played with great disci...

Re: Conference Finals: Caledonia(1) vs St.Catharines(2), Playoff Thread & Predictions
I don't see your argument Port. They won the game 6-3 (like there was any doubt) and outshot St. Catharines 49-15. Would it satisfy you more if the Corvairs won by 10 or 12 more goals just to prove that they are indeed the superior team? What are you even talking about? What does the embarrassing d...

Re: Conference Finals: Caledonia(1) vs St.Catharines(2), Playoff Thread & Predictions
Yes i really do. Lets face it , with the age and experience they have they are as good as some OHL teams (IMO) I'm taking nothing away from the remaining GOJHL teams, they are good in their own right but talk to any experienced GM in this league and they will echo the remarks I have made. I have be...

Re: Caledonia(1) vs Niagara Falls(4), 2nd Round Playoff Thread
That Sutherland final from 2 years ago was some of the best hockey that I have ever watched. Last year's final against LaSalle was not too shabby either. Who knows.......if it did not take LaSalle seven games to dispose of Elmira in the previous round it would have been an even more tense final. Thi...

13-2 at home in an elimination game for the Canucks! So much for the rest of the teams other than Pelham being competitive against the Corvairs. Non the less I guess that they must learn how to lose gracefully. Perhaps Caledonia are the ones that should go to the OPHL instead.

I certainly did not say that they didn't win fair and square or work hard only that I am tired of seeing them advance every year. It is time for some other team to step it up. Plain and simple.

Looks like the fat lady has serenaded the Panthers for this year as the Corvairs put 104 shots on net and rang up a baker's dozen goals in a 13-0 romp.

Another Nailbiter in Pelham
Just glanced at the game sheet on Pointstreak and the Corvairs are up 5-0 after one period with 40 shots on goal. This game and series cannot end soon enough for Pelham.

I must admit that one of the benefits of watching Grimsby go deep in the playoffs every year is it gave me the opportunity to see some of the other great Junior C teams such as Alliston Hornets, Essex 73's, Belle River Canadiens, Uxbridge Bruins and the Lakefield Chiefs in the semi's or finals as we...

Re: Too much or just too good
As I've said before, Caledonia is winning within the rules. However, IMO, the rules should change. Look at the BCHL. Basically, it's the shining light of Canadian junior hockey that isn't major junior. The best place for prospective NCAA Canadians to play. Who would be the perennial team out there?...

I think the Peach Kings have won the Niagara East for about 14 seasons in a row now. Once again the snake bitten Dundas Blues could not get the job done. C'mon Rangers. Time someone else represented the Niagara District.

Re: Too much or just too good
When referring to a level playing field I am talking about a playoff series - not any given night situation. All things being equal (which they are not!) any top team can suffer defeat by any opponent if all the ducks are in a row. I do not think that formula would work against the Corvairs in a sev...

Re: Too much or just too good
I can understand the opinions from both sides. First you have Pelham which is providing young men an opportunity to play Junior B hockey and be part of a team but for whatever reason are unable to find the horses to compete. I am not sure of Mr. Toffolo's situation on this only that I feel for the p...
