Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

Hopefully that doesn't equate to having more opportunity to sell-off players and be non-competitive all in the name of revenue! If that continues to happen, you could put them between periods at a Leaf game and no one would have interest!

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

I definitely wouldn't say it is a hinderance...but I would say it would definitely bring some instant credibility to a league that DESPERATELY needs it!

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

Not sure what the point you are trying to make is? Do I get it yet? I am sure some kids stay close to home DP. Some kids drafted by OHL teams are actually not from the area the respective OHL team is located. If there is a relationship between an organization and a coach of a Junior B team, do you t...

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

Kooy was placed with the Lincs at the request of the Knights as he was gaining nothing competitively by playing Major Midget. There may be no affiliation between clubs but if there are historical connections between teams and the Knights off the ice, you can bet the Lincs will be the first team they...

Re: Lambton Shore Predators to Komoka?

They first need League approval but more importantly, they need OHA approval! The GOJHL needs to not be as militant with regards to their transition team. Life is not about getting everything you want! Ask for something, but have something smaller or less important ready to go so it makes it appear ...

Re: Cambridge

Oldtymer..I agree with you on what you have written. For me, the more interesting scenario will be the litigation scenario. If there has been any sort of collusion between the OHA and the OJHL then that breaks the law pertaining to competition and the Abuse of Dominance provision contained within th...

Re: Cambridge

Hockey Canada is not in the business of sanctioning teams/leagues. They leave that up to the branches/member partners and in this province, the member partner is the OHA under the OHF.

Re: Cambridge

Under the OHA, within their constitution, there is a by-law regarding geographical proximity. That suggests that as long as Cambridge is a member, in good standing with the OHA, then another team CANNOT be placed within that jurisdiction. That's the question I have. You have a lawyer, representing t...

Re: Cambridge

Not sure where Cambridge stands. Whether they have sanctioning or not. Winter Hawks claim they have HC sanctioning. Leaving the GOJHL is one thing and they could have gotten away with that. But by saying you want to break away from the OHA, as the sanctioning body, not sure where that puts Cambridge...

Re: Cambridge

It is a slippery slope. Technically the Hawks are "owned" and should be making business decisions in the best interests of the owner. The OHA should not have any bearing over the decisions of Mr. Machado. I think that is where the legalities come into play. Though I am not one who really d...

Re: CAMBRIDGE SITUATION

The GOJHL is the reason they are in this spot to begin with. Forget non-statements, CW should be out there with an official statement. If you want to go up against HC you need to have time, money and a lot of patience. The patience part is the kicker because HC, it's branches, member partners etc wi...

Re: CAMBRIDGE SITUATION

Hockey Canada will not be on board. If you have ever dealt with the good ole boys in Calgary it goes something like this. "We do not get involved with provincial issues. We leave that up to the branches" In this effed up province, we have three branches which each having their own territor...

Re: GMHL entry draft coming up on May 15th

I am neither a proponent or opponent for this league. Junior teams in the OHA used to do the same with 15 year-olds back in the day. The would sign and sit in the stands which is equivalent to zero development. I remember waaaay back when the Provincial Junior loop would always laugh that the GMHL w...

Re: CAMBRIDGE SITUATION

I understand that is a concern but if you put a program in place and actually MARKET the league, you will be on better footing to compete against the OJHL. Part of the problem also is that you have these so-called "advisors" who tell these kids they need to be in the OJHL to be seen which ...

Re: Cambridge

Whether or not they have left the OHA, they will still have their sanctioning! That is something that cannot be taken from them for deciding to go out on a "independent" schedule! The OHA cannot tell them where they play. Suggestion would be to stay away from the OJHL. Other than "A&q...

Re: CAMBRIDGE SITUATION

I do not understand the "A" versus "B"!! It is only semantics people! And that is what first, the OHA will say, then the OHF followed by Hockey Canada! This league is in a much better spot than the OJHL...PERIOD!! Yes, the OJHL gets to suck at the proverbial OHA t*t but they are ...

Re: New rules for 2017-2018 season

If you played even an ex game in the OHL, your NCAA eligibility is done! I actually think it is now even less than an ex-game. As for a 20 year-old non-OHL grad, the numbers are fewer and fewer as the years go on as there are just too many good young players especially south of the border that coach...

Re: New rules for 2017-2018 season

I think there need to be several changes made and they will be met with resistance. First, limit the number of 20 year-olds to 2 per club. If a team wishes to roster a third, the penalty should be a financial one. And I am not talking $250 or $500, I am talking at a minimum $2500 per transaction. A ...

Restriction on 19 and 20 year-olds?

Can someone let me know about restrictions on the number of 20 year-olds and even 19 year-olds there are, if any, in the league? I assume there is no restriction on 19 year-olds but surely there must be something within the GOJHL Rules and Regs, By-Laws or even Constitution that shows this? Sorry if...

Re: Guy from OJHL forum rips the GOJHL, Buffalo

The OHF/OHA/CJHL/HC will hardly due the correct thing. They will always use the "in the best interests of the game" line. When in actuality, it is in the best interests of themselves. The gap between the OJHL and the GOJHL is small indeed. The quality and calibre of play is extremely simil...

Re: Guy from OJHL forum rips the GOJHL, Buffalo

I do understand the issue! Issues are players are leaving because they believe that the OJHL is where they "have" to be in order to get where they want to go. Players can leave in droves to go to the OJHL with little to no compensatory relief in return. What I was suggesting, and you may h...

Re: Guy from OJHL forum rips the GOJHL, Buffalo

It doesn't matter. The OJHL was the laughing stock of NCAA hockey a few years back when they had 40+ teams. The league was an utter joke! The GOJHL has a good thing going. Their attendance puts the OJHL attendance to shame. Many an OJ team can only dream of having the attendance numbers of most GOJH...

Why Junior "A"?

It's only semantics! The GOJHL is a good product! In fact, it is a great product! This league, although it has some valid arguments, will never be acclaimed as Junior A within the current structure. It is just the way the system works. Is it a flawed system, I say without hesitation YES! But there a...
