Re: The End of Club Teams

What is a 'club team"? Who are they in the GOJHL? Good question. My guess is that a club team are teams that support themselves (are community supported) vs a team that has an actual owner who foots the bill. If that is the case that would be a shame because that would mean some of the strongest te...

Re: 2018-19 Signings

I surely hope there is a decision this week. It is has gone on long enough and I put that on the OHA. Could a definitive decision not have been made by them weeks ago? I guess because it is summer and too many don't put priority on hockey but on their vacations that this has lingered on. Training ca...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today

This chaos is so disheartening I must say. As part of a community based team who bust their butts to draw people to the rink and knock on many doors to get sponsors to help pay the bills, it is sad to see some trying to operate their teams on the backs of their players. We pride ourselves on treatin...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today

Probably an uninformed question, but I ask it anyhow.........could the OHA not take this all by the horns and provide a standardized fee and operating structure that every team would need to adhere to? Everyone would be on the same playing field.

Re: GOJHL AGM Today

The West is the West, minus London. The East is the Midwest, minus Brantford and Brampton, plus St Catharines. So if I've got this right............the East is Listowel, Elmira, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Stratford and St Catharine's The West is Lasalle, Sarnia, St. Mary's, Strathroy, St. Thom...

Re: GOJHL AGM Today

Although there hasn't been anything publicized, our Commissioner is working behind the scenes with the OHF to resolve the dissention amongst our league. My source has told me that he's working to get the OHF to approve a split within our league and the formation of a new GOJHL. My source has told m...

Interesting. I daresay Listowel's numbers will go up next season when they are in the new rink for the entire year.

Obviously another thing the GOJHL has no standardization on.

Where is Listowel? Did the early season games in the old rink pull them down because they had incredible attendance in the new rink.......and I don't buy Stratford's #'s. I was at some playoff games there and the place was only half full.

I was wondering that myself. If the Jr B 99er's are toast that leaves only 7 teams in the MidWest. Would they move someone over from the West?

Re: Sutherland cup semi-finals, and predictions thread

Elmira's looked pretty good. Lost both games in OT... But they scored 6 goals on Caledonia last night. With a couple of bounces, Elmira could easily be up 2-0. I think they'll win a couple games. ....and Elmira has done it with their starting goaltender sitting out with injury (although Kimmel has ...

I can't imagine too many caring for the 2 conferences many because of the travel and the costs involved. I'm sure each team has an idea what is and isn't acceptable for them. It will be interesting to see what the league comes up with.
