Re: Jr. B to Jr. A Status
Wearing a cage will do nothing for Covid spread. The decision to return to 1/2 visors like the vast majority of top level 2nd tier junior hockey in Canada is sound. The OHA needs to find a way to have JrA hockey available west of Brantford, so either reclassify the GOJ to A status of continue to wat...

Re: Jr. B to Jr. A Status
Merging with the OJ should never be considered. If they need to leave the OHA to attain JrA status, so be it. The top level hockey below the OHL in Southwestern Ontario should be A not B.

Re: Prediction On a Season Start Date
OHL is also tentative on December 1st, most leagues in Canada have a clue when they could tentatively start. Part of the issue could be that not all GOJHL rinks are being opened by their respective municipalities. Some minor hockey associations are looking at shutting down until Covid due to a short...

Re: OJHL Expansion/ What GOJHL teams will apply for Jr. A status?
I dont miss the OHA at all. The CJHL has 10 Jr A leagues and are very clear there will not be an 11th. The OHF has 2 of those leagues the OHA and NOHA. In order to serve the players in Southwestern Ontario the OHF would either the through the OHA so called "league of choice" have to expand...

Re: league action
The GO and OHA don't have much of a supplementary discipline policy when compared the the other 9 branches. Many of the others suspend on repeated goaltender interference and accumulated head contact minors during the season. The OHA is one of the few mandatory cage leagues so shots to the head tend...

Re: Head Shots
The GOJHL has a long history of losing players to head injuries. This isn't that new. About 5 years ago most junior leagues looked for ways to reduce head injuries. Almost all leagues brought in additional sanctions for "blow to the head" infractions that increase rapidly for repeat offend...

Re: Port Colborne Coming Back To The 'Shoe
The OHF are the ones who blocked the move. The OHA were too busy trying to figure out how Lockeport, Nova Scotia ever got a franchise in the GOJHL and why they are now just finding out  Been to Lockport NS, nice historic town on the Atlantic coast, seems like more of a nice summer resort town...

Re: GOJHL Board
Here is a simple question for the new GOJHL board. When will Southwestern Ontario be represented at the A level? As noted numerous players depart every season for the OJ and many of the other A leagues that cover all other populated regions of Canada except Newfoundland. I trust there is a better pl...

There are some shady so called advisors running around the GOJHL peddling the OJ koolaid as well. More realistically there are just glorified recruiters

Re: Strathroy Rockets
Not sure why anyone would assume the Rockets would be in the market for a change since they are now headed in the right direction. As the article above correctly notes, best season since 2014-15. That didn't happen by accident. Might be that the alliance coach did little more than review the final s...

Should the season end soon enough for the Maroons some of the veterans have been added to teams in the OJHL. That may help explain some of the motivation issues.

Re: First Round Predictions
Sometimes teams are good on paper, some teams are good on the ice. Chathams problem has been that the game is not played on paper. Bottom line forking out money doesn't guarantee a championship as happened last year with the Caledonia Corvairs. Now add in a rookie coach going head to head against a ...

BCHL broadcasts are typical of many of the other junior A leagues. I have been to Komoka and often they have a guy standing near the camera doing play by play, maybe they should hook him up to a mic.

Re: Prospects Games & Showcase
Hockey TV broadcasts in the GOJHL are generally much lower in quality compared to the Junior A leagues. Some have a single camera set high in a corner to capture the entire ice surface with no audio at all. Shooting through mesh isn't ideal but with many arena set ups there is little choice. Lack of...

Just when things have turned around for the Strathroy Rockets the London Knights deal Emmett Pierce to the Flint Firebirds at the trade deadline. Pierce was Strathroy leading scorer and has been added to Flints 23 man roster.

Re: You had to see this one coming!
The OHA is more lenient with players that target the head compared to many other junior branches under Hockey Canada. The GOJHL does not have supplemental discipline rules like the Jr A leagues do. With the exception of some rare occasions only the minimum sanction is applied even with repeat offend...

I have to wonder if anyone within the GOJHL braintrust has considered a seeding procedure similar to this to prevent the worst team in the league from "earning" a playoff spot due to geography.

I doubt the non GOJHL Inc teams would be allowed to send anyone since this an Inc function. It will likely exclude all 19 and 20 year olds as has been past practice for the last couple of seasons

Re: Here's a radical change..LOL...
It would make the regular season meaningful if there were consequences such as no post season play for more than 1 team for losing consistently. Now that the GOJHL is free and clear of interference from the OHA they should be able to make this happen
