Re: Sutherland Cup Finals; London vs Elmira
Living in the Mid-west area I can go to London, Listowel and Welland with little effort. My friends and I can see a Kitchener, Elmira, 99ers game one night then a Vairs Niagara the next night. I didn't think Listowel or Elmira were very strong because they weren't that strong against the 99ers. St C...

Re: Sutherland Cup Finals; London vs Elmira
From my experience iv'e notice most teams look great first 5 mins of the game, maybe the idea is to catch the other team flat footed, get a couple of goals then hold on. This tactic worked good for every team in the past except for the Leafs. For the first time in the playoffs this year ,what I expect...

Re: Sutherland Cup Finals; London vs Elmira
I know a lot of people who have stayed away because of how downhill the actual hockey has become. No team is nearly as fast or as skilled as last years teams. Of course a little bit slower hockey is going to kill attendance. Think about this year compared to other seasons and look at the quality of...

Re: Sutherland Cup Finals; London vs Elmira
Jonathan Reinhart, a hockey goalie is QB Tom Brady of the NFL who throws touchdowns in the GOJHL. Got it.
Elmira wins 30-28 and Reinhart is Sutherbowl MVP
In all seriousness both teams good defensively, both have good goalies, both have guys who can put up points. Should be an entertaining series.

Re: Sutherland Cup Semi Finals; Listowel vs London
Listowel has the arena advantage since Elmira and Waterloo has Olympic ice pads. Im not sure of the smaller rinks of the west, but I think London will have it harder adjusting to Listowel's ice compared to Listowel adjusting to London's London played against Chatham 2nd round and they have a small ...

Do the Corvairs have top spot? Or is it the Nationals? Not sure how much difference between Elmira and Listowel anyway? I see a Caledonia and London final so seeding could just matter for home ice in finals.

Saturday night will tell me everything I need to know.
Johnston was good but I thought the team that deserved to win the game won game 1. Londons potent offence was rather limited in quality chances I felt.
Wonder if any of these guys are celebrating st Patrick's day, back to back games sat-sun

Tougher than you'd think if the arena is booked. Also exams for university student athletes.

Re: Race in the West
Well we got our answer. By my count London was without 8 regulars and Chatham only a couple and one being Beenackers who they've been without a while. The maroons honored their OA's pre game, took and early lead and then got sh** kicked. Of course Thompson is game MVP despite Trottier scoring FIVE g...

I don't know why heffernan is still playing must want to lead the league in Penalty minutes he is even more embrassing than the referees
I think
That's debatable on any given night
St Mary's would be better off without that clown

Re: Deepest Division
Having 2 top teams does not make the Conference the best. You still have Buffalo. Any of Caledonia, St. Kitts and NF would win the West/Mid this year. Ancasfer would be a top team in those divisions as well. Don't mistake competitive games for quality. you've watched enough games from the other con...

Re: Deepest Division
Kind of piggy backing on this thought - I'm excited as hell to see how things shake out in the west and how the standings end up. Based on the last 2 or 3 weeks seems to be more parody than ever. But small sample size. Playoffs should be quite entertaining as well. Would not surprise be to see a fir...

Re: Ethan Sarfati to the Chatham Maroons
Looks like he has calmed down. He use to take dumb penalties and get misconducts. Perhaps out of frustration? Seems more tame in Chatham, seems to be coming back across the red line into his own end (a bit). Chatham is undoubtedly deep and he could just blend in some nights like mentioned, but he wi...

Re: Maroons officially add Brendan D'Agostino
The scoring title this year is flawed and may as well have an asterisk(*) next to it because of the teams in the Golden Horseshoe conference that get to feed on their inferior opponents. Case in point D'Agostino. That being said he sits third in league scoring and that is impressive. The moves Chath...

I agree Port, I'd like to see Szekesy get behind the bench. The circus continues in Chatham but somehow the players are hanging tough and are a serious contender in the conference. Kudos to them.

Maroons FIRE Verbeek
The Chatham Maroons fired Brian Verbeek on Tuesday despite their strong start in his first season as head coach. The Maroons didn't give any reason for the surprising move, but Verbeek cited a “difference in management philosophy.” Verbeek said president/general manager Bill Szekesy had been interfe...

Re: Another classless knight in Leaminton
Leamington is no better.
Needs to be more respect for your opponent in this league. There is playing the game hard and on the edge and then there is blatant disrespect. Been a couple pretty serious injuries this year and it'll get worse before it gets better. Refereeing is a god damn joke

Re: Ethan Sarfati to the Chatham Maroons
Teams in the top half are loading up and it sounds like there is still more movement of impact players to come. It's just past the halfway point of the season and a lot can change. I'll throw it out there that St. Mary's is the team left out of the dance and that London finishes first place in a rac...

Confirmed by multiple players.
Sounds like there are others on basement teams that want out, and or are being $hopped. But that is no $urprise.
