Re: Exh games
Exhibition Games or no Exhibition Games...the season is done! This league and it's leadership would be better served to start focusing on next season and what protocols can be put in place to have an effective start. This league just makes decisions piggybacking on the OJHL. Envious much? Said it b...

Re: Cost For Teams
All Midwest teams bus their teams to away games. I've seen Waterloo/Kitchener take buses literally 15 min down the road to each other's rinks.

Re: GOJHL 2020/2021 Season discussion
Premier Ford has made it quite clear that Ontario will remain in Stage 3 until a vaccine is developed. Considering the province's policies towards team sports and live sporting events while in Stage 3 a season is not likely possible at this time. The province's policies are as follows: Things withi...

Re: Somethings Cooking
Its time to stick a fork in this league. They have rolled over and have played dead ever since they signed the agreement with the OJHL. The OJ continues to drive the GO into dismay. Its time for the 9 or 10 good teams (good owners ) to pull up stakes and find another league to play in, (OJHL, CCHL)...

Re: Somethings Cooking
A plan to be classified as Jr A? Sure.
Otherwise, GOJ is at the mercy of other leagues being able to take their players pretty damn easy.

Re: Somethings Cooking
Not sure if anything is cooking but there should be. I honestly dont get it. It really baffles my mind at the direction.... Wait, what I mean to say is this league has no direction or visión. Part of the problem is you cant be a "yes" man and get things accomplished. Add to that... You need to have...

Re: Siskins New Name & Logo
And with one swoop of the pen.. A team with a tremendous history and traditión is snuffed out!! Great mové... NOT!!! That is the one thing that this league has, well two things actually.. History and traditión! I am sure that will soon disappear as well with the types of decisions that have been ma...

Re: Ayr Centennials Purchase Kitchener Dutchmen
Sure.. Scale back.. But where is this league going to get the money from? Attendance is not an issue of owners have deep pockets and business es where the losses dont matter anyway. FYI.. Dont take your lead from the OJ.. They are, as someone here once said, a rudderless ship! But then again.. The ...

Re: Ayr Centennials Purchase Kitchener Dutchmen
It would be good to pare back the size of the league but unwise to eliminate the teams in the large populated areas But this doesn't change much. You already have Waterloo there, and let's be honest... Kitchener-Waterloo is essentially one city at this point. Not to mention Elmira is 15 minutes dow...

Re: Ayr Centennials Purchase Kitchener Dutchmen
All reports seem to suggest the league is trying to contract teams, not add.
Unless a team goes up for sale, I don't see it.

Re: GOJHL and their low standards
Here's the facts! It's costly to run a junior hockey team. MOST GOJ teams try to keep costs low for players and rely more on sponsors, gates, etc. to run their programs at break even. Money is not made in this world. Because of this, teams rely on a lot of volunteers for things like scorekeeping, ga...

Re: Attendance
And how many show up to the 99er’s game. I can tell ya. Not a whole lot. Maybe 100-150. That’s pathetic as well. What's more pathetic is that there is 8 teams in the OJHL doing worse in attendance. It's interesting to note that the Bombers average more in attendance than the Brampton Admirals who p...

Burlington. Or maybe a merger with the Jr C team in Woodstock (similar to how the old Brantford Jr B team merged with Caledonia when they were still Jr C). Another new rumor I've heard is Tillsonburg. Would love to see a Jr. B team in Woodstock or Tillsonburg, expansion team rather than a relocatio...

Re: Mid-Season Predictions
Looks like three tiers this year -- The contenders in Elmira Kitchener and Cambridge, the rebuilding Stratford, Listowel and Waterloo and then the normal two at the bottom. A couple things that have been surprising this year have been the dominance of Elmira over Kitchener when they meet, the quick ...

From what I've seen perusing twitter: the PJHL is hiring a Commissioner and now has league autonomy over itself to make decisions, similar to what the GOJHL went through this past summer/fall.

Re: Waterloo, London Suthy Finals
Was at the game but both calls were in the same spot on the ice and so I had a hard time getting a good read on either of them. Saw the highlights this morning and the call on London is legit, but am I the only one to think the call on Waterloo was soft? I'm a Midwest fan - Redhawks baby! so maybe I...

Not sure I'd say upset. Waterloo handled Listy pretty good all year. I thought Waterloo or Elmira were the best team in the league this year though the points at the end of the year didn't reflect it.

Re: Collingwood Franchise Approved
Bad news for the GOJHL again, the Collingwood Junior franchise has been granted to the OJHL. Although the OHA said they supported both the Jr.A and Jr.B applications, their support according the Collingwood newspapers was more in favour of a Jr.A franchise. The OHA leadership over the last several ...

Listowel Cyclones 43-5-0-2, first Won Sutherland Cup It took Jason Brooks one day to move on from winning the Sutherland Cup. Now let's just throw in a rumour heard at a Junior C game last night- a group from Burlington has put in a bid to buy the GOJHL Brantford franchise and move it to the Wave there (worst plac ever to wtch a hockey game). I am not sure that it is worse the Brantford Lions Park Arena https://thumbs.gfy...

Re: GOJHL Issues
According to the OJ forum, the OHA hasn't actually approved the move from Milton. They were saying that their home games were being moved to their opposition's arena, because they aren't approved to play out of the Gretszky. Perhaps that's why they're still wearing their Milton uniforms. But they s...

Brantford's JR A game tonight postponed because the OHA won't send them referees.

2018-2019 Season Predictions
Back with the same format as the last two years. Here is my predictions. Have seen 6 of 8 teams in pre-season games thus far. Sad I won't be in St. Catharines this weekend, but oh well. Let's get the season going. Team Standings 1. Elmira - Goodwin/Cameron/Dubecki could light it up, depth up front a...

Re: 2018-19 Predictions
Other than Lansink and Herrfort, Listowel is made up mostly of young rookies this year. Elmira, Waterloo and Kitchener are the teams with experience coming back this year from what I've seen in pre-season. Some mix of them at the top. Cambridge, Listowel and Stratford in the next pack as younger tea...

Re: GOJHL Issues
If the kids are good enough..the OHL will come knocking. HC will have no bearing on that. Sure the hockey purists would like to believe that HC would be able to influence the ownership of OHL teams but I beg to differ. Besides, there have been countless times where HC has taken NCAA players for it'...
