Re: GOJHL 2020/2021 Season discussion
The Niagara Falls Canucks have posted this on Instagram: " HOCKEY IS BACK! The Niagara Falls Canucks are looking forward to the 2020-2021 season! The last few months have been very difficult on everyone as we continue to battle the Coronavirus, however we believe that better days are slowly heading ...

Re: GOJHL 2020/2021 Season discussion
And so it begins.... Buffalo jr Sabres of the OJ taking a year sabbatical due to the current climate, will return for 21-22 season. Which means the Buffalo Regals are not far behind... only a matter of time. This isn't a surprise, since U.S. based teams wouldn't be able to cross the border. But the...

Re: Buffalo Regals
Do you mean based on attendance? Brampton, Brantford, Fort Erie, Buffalo and ,guess who, Caledonia, are all at the bottom of list. Obviously, attendance has little to do with survival. How can these teams make a go of it financially?

Re: St.Catharines Falcons puzzling moves
Exactly. From what I've seen so far, I think St.Catharines definitely got the better of that deal.A lot less talent (I don't think so I see two points difference between all four players) also the two players coming over from the falls know how to back check.

The Caledonia Neanderthals have always been a violent, bullying team. Talented without doubt, but always intimidating. Nothing has changed after a year off.

Justin Kyle back with Canucks
Justin Kyle (last years overall league scoring champ) is back in Niagara Falls after staring the season with Collingwood of the OJHL. Collingwood is in its first year but is one of the top teams in the league, has the highest attendance in the league and Justin was their leading scorer. Does anyone ...

And now he's fired, after taking the team (which is entirely new after the year off) to a 17-1-0-1 start. Go figure.

Nattress
So Ric Nattress is off to a good start as Caledonia coach, getting a minimum 7 game suspension for an altercation at the end of their last pre-season game against St.Catharines. Does anyone know what exactly he did to the official? Can't imagine why anyone would be that out of control in an meaningl...

And yet Mendonca is the playoff scoring leader. Go figure.
But it's not just those 2, it's a total team effort in the bad penalty department.

Re: Sutherland Cup Semis
One only has to look at the players penalty minutes in the playoffs. Canucks have the top 3 and 6 of the top 10, led by 'why is he even in this league' McCabe. Stupid penalties and overall lack of effort has doomed them.

Re: Horseshoe Finals
The leagues top scorer, Justin Kyle, didn't play last night, and it was like the Canucks figured they wouldn't win without him so didn't really show too much interest in the game. Total lack of hustle or effort on their part, while St.Kitts skated rings around them, out hit them, got every loose puc...

But every other team was operating under the same conditions, and no one else took such drastic measures. There has to be more to it than that.

I think that the final 4 seconds of that game are to be played the next time Hamilton is in Fort Erie again, which is this Saturday.

So, has the GOJHL Inc. basically kicked the 10 other teams out of the GOJHL? I don't understand how that is possible.

Re: GOJHL AGM Today
Do I have this right?
GOJHL is a Junior B league under the OHA.
GOJHL Inc. is a group of owners of teams within the GOJHL that charges players to play on their teams.
Does GOJHL Inc. have any authority to make any decisions (rules, policy, etc.) about the GOJHL? What exactly is their purpose?

St,Catharines, Welland and Port Colborne are all IN Niagara. Do you mean Niagara Falls?Anyone here from St. Catharines, Niagara, Welland or Thorold care to comment??
I can't fathom how a team that openly declares itself NOT part of a league still plays in that league. How is that possible?

I don't think any team has improved as much as Buffalo. They haven't won yet, but their goals against is down from 11 last year to 6 this year. They haven't had double digits scored against them so far as opposed to the frequent teens and 20's of last year. And several games have been surprisingly c...

"....smaller market teams will cease to exist...." I've always been curious as to what constitutes a "small market". Would a town of, say, 10,000 people where 150 show up to watch a game (with that attendance being one of the lowest in the league) be considered such? I would think so, but that would...

"...Cotton from N.F..."
perhaps you are referring to Harrison Cottam?
Although Buffalo is an extreme anomaly, each GOJHL division has its week sisters, just like any league in any sport. It's part of the game.

He was just the last FE player to touch the puck before a NF player tried a pass out from behind the FE net and it went all the way down the ice into the empty net. He played a fantastic game also, to go with the goal.Fort Erie goalie scores empty net goal
