Re: Jake Evans the turtle
Absolutely, no doubt Martin lost that game for Welland. Unable to control his temper and anger, cost them big time. Changed the entire momentum and paly in favour of the Falcons. Killing off a 9 min penalty not only tired down the Welland players, but could not recover from the dominate play St. Cat...

Re: #2 St.Catharines vs #7 Welland playoff thread.
Was at the game last night and wanted to comment on a couple of things. First and foremost, thought the goaltending was outstanding on both sides but edge to Janzten. Was the difference. If he doesn't keep it up, Welland going is down in the next 4 games. (which is my prediction). Secondly and most ...

Re: Falcons continue to fall, Canucks continue to rise
Remember somebody saying something about the goaltending a number of weeks ago? Being a Falcons fan for some time now, it was tough for me at times to admit to myself that maybe we didn't have the best goaltending in the league. Put an average gaolie on a very good team and they will shine. Not sayi...

Re: Welland 1 for 11
I was at the Welland vs Cal game, I think that the ref made a bad call for delay on Sinclair. One thing I think for sure, Cal won't be able to compete against even caliber teams with the goaltending they have. I'm believing that's their Achilles heel!

Re: Welland holds on
So true about Welland putting so much on there goalies shoulders. I hear that last week, Janzen was terribly ill but still played because the backup is just recovering from a concussion and wasn't anywhere near in game shape. Is that true? What a difference a week makes! Been watching my team (St Ki...

Re: Game 2 Caledonia at Leamington live on YouTube
I just saw the 'trip' on youtube. What a BOGUS call for a ref to make in triple OT. Ref must have been too tired to continue and needed the very first 'anything even close' to happen so he could get out of there! Where do these refs come from!!!!!

I heard a rumor that the Jr B league is going pay for play next season, just like the Jr A leagues. Does anybody know the truth in that?

Re: Falcons dump Welland
I thought Welland played a good first period. Score could have been tied or even Welland ahead after the 1st if it wasn't for some bad breaks. (sticks breaking, fanning on shots). But after that, it was all St.Catharines. Welland couldn't keep to their game and give full credit to the Falcons. They ...

Re: Beer league reffing
Most times the reffing is SO bad, it makes one wonder where they come from! I do understand that it is a very tough job to do. But where is the training? Where is the accountability? At the Welland vs St.Kitts game on Friday night, the refs blew the game big time. SO many 'no calls' with sticks bein...

Re: Chris Janzen beats Falcons,Welland ties series 1-1
Well said Port hockey 1! Was at the game last night and thought it was a great game. Janzen was impressive but really shone in those last minutes-made some outstanding saves with St.kitts having a 2 man advantage with the net empty and Welland taking a penalty. (way to go Ruggi-pushing the net off)....

Re: Falcons come back to win game 1
Great explanation. But how could Janzen try to push the net off if he was down on the ice? I did here it was a good back and forth game. Oh well, anyway, I'm heading out to the next game, I'll have to see if the reffing gets any better for myself.

Re: Falcons come back to win game 1
Well, I wasn't at the game but I am friends with some of the parents on the St. Kitts team. They agreed on a very bad call for the 3rd goal.(and they did say continued bad -no calls- as well). Apparently Janzen had the puck covered and they allowed the players to keep poking and shoving at him. But ...

Re: Round 2, playoff predictions
Round 2.
Caledonai vs Ancaster
Richards will steal a few games but that's as far as it goes.
Caledonia in 6.
St.Catharines vs Welland.
Tough, tough series. St.Catharines fire power is very good. But Welland's good D and style of hockey should prevail.

Re: Welland pushes Fort Erie to the brink of elimination
Re:Caledonia Fan It was a good game, FE played a good tight checking game. The O.T. penalty call was a good call. High sticking and cut the chin open on the Welland player. (ref tried to keep it even as best as possible, only 2 min penalty, although he was bleeding-hmm, didn't quite get that). Anywa...

Re: Pelham's shameful season comes to an end
Right on Port 1!!!! We know kids (parents) that have played on the team. They have said exactly that! He lies, twists the truth and NEVER comes through with any of the promises he makes. ALL players should steer clear of that team, never play for him as long as he's the owner!

Welland-F.E. games-reffing
Just came from the Welland - Fort Erie game. I have never seen such pathetic, terrible decision making made by referees! Where do these guys come from? Is there no accountability for such poor officiating? Two particular calls: 1st super bad call- a dive and turn on a hit. Welland player-hits Fort E...

Re: Welland's bad decision
Wow, I didn't see all this discussion happening here. Some very good points being made. But I'll add a bit more now that the playoffs have started. Welland does look like they are attempting to 'step it up' for the playoffs. If wasn't for great goaltending on FE's side, score would have been very lo...

Great come back by Niagara Falls! Too bad they fell short in O.T. Should be a great game tonight. Was told Welland really came out to play as the puck dropped but then things smoothed out as the game went on. Conway must have played another solid game. What was with Welland starting the backup(?) go...

I couldn't agree more-re: Welland vs Mets for playoffs. it's going to be a hell of a series. I think, like always, will come down to goaltending. Edge to FE but if the Janzen boy plays like he can, Welland will take the series. Either way, will be a fun playoff series to watch.

Re: The race for first
Well, throw my 2 cents worth in here, Hunter is a great kid and a good goalie. Problem is, there are lots of 'good' goalies. Not going to make a starting role in Welland, starter there is just too good (lowest save % and low, low GAA) and too much of a future with the team. I'm really hoping that we...
