Re: Refs Picking on Caledonia?

Thanks for your objective comments Port. I agree with everything you say, particularly the frustration the players feel with incompetent, inconsistent and inexplicable (no tolerance) calls made by the referees. Give the game back to the players. Caledonia has reason to be frustrated with the referee...

Re: Refs Picking on Caledonia?

For the record to Caledonia Fan, I've seen Caledonia play eight games this year including three in their arena and I stand by what I said and I'm sure there are many others that agree with me. And for the record, I raised this topic not because of the Bolibruk issue but in response to a common threa...

Refs Picking on Caledonia?

I have cheered for the Corvairs right to the Sutherland Cup for the last two cheers, never missing a Caledonia home game. And I'm a St. Catharines fan. However to those experts who suggest that opposing players are out `to get' Caledonia players, and the refs are biased against Caledonia, is simply ...

Welland vs St. Kitts - Nov. 1st

Great game tonight. Very exciting, played at a high tempo and could have gone either way in spite of border-line inept refereeing by Robertson and Myers. I have a technical question I'm hoping someone can answer for me. At 18:08 of the first period Langan of the Falcons got a minor and an automatic ...

Re: LaSalle takes game 1

Saw the game too and full credit to the Vipers for putting the Vairs completely out of their game. The Viper defense was awesome. The forwards forechecked relentlessly and clogged up the middle of the ice completely throwing off the Vairs passing game. In their defensive zone The Vipers kept the Vai...

Re: LaSalle eliminates mighty Sugar Kings

Although imperfect I believe the wild card is a better solution than the round robin. There is much more suspense watching the ultimate second place finishers battle it out for the best winning percentage. This also puts more emphasis on winning every game in the preliminary rounds and permits the l...

Re: Caledonia pushes Flyers to Brink of elimination

I agree completely with Caledonia Fan. In the first game in Caledonia, Leamington came out very physical and hit everything in sight early in the game. Almost immediately Caledonia started hitting back even harder and for some reason Leamington stopped their physical play. Why? I'm not sure. Perhaps...

Re: Sutherland Cup round 1 predictions

The Western Conference probably is the most competitive overall as witnessed by how well London played in the playoffs and the season in general. However, the most powerful teams are in the Mid West and Shoe. Predictions: Elmira over LaSalle: 4 games to 0 Caledonia over Leamington: 4 games to 0 (wit...

Hey Port ...... I appreciate what you are saying, and I have nothing against you personally. I would like to tone down my rhetoric but I see red when I read some of your comments that are either not completely true or show great bias or some of your personal attacks on others that are not founded. I...

Re: Falcons Edge Corvairs in Double OT - by Bill Protrecz

Unfortunately Port you can give it out but he sure can't take it You hide behind `I don't want to debate with you' excuse. You should be writing Harlequin Romances where complete fiction is allowed. You claim that the Corvairs got jobbed by the referees in Game 3 in the second O/T period and that he...

Oops, sorry, you're right, Caledonia lost one in the round with Ancaster, so Elmira definitely is in.

Re: Wildcard Team

Just curious. Zant you may be right, but what if Stratford and St. Catharines run the table from here and let's say Leamington wins the West. Elmira and Caledonia would both have four losses. What is the tie-breaker? Caledonia certainly has a larger goal differential. Why would Elmira get the wildca...

Re: Falcons blow 3 goal lead, win on questionable call in 2nd OT

As I was driving home from the game tonight I wondered what the `crybaby' would have to say about the game and how he would make up an excuse for Caledonia losing. Port did not let me down. It boggles my mind how he twists the facts to suit his biased view of the world. The `brutal' penalty call did...

Re: Falcons coach

I agree with BeenThereDoneThat's comments completely. St. Catharines has competed very well with Caledonia and derserves a better fate than being down 0-2. St. Catharines was missing Tyler Jackson, Dozzi, Blakely and it was Miller's first game back from mono. Forslund was a coach's decision and coul...

Re: Welland hammered 8-1

Port, I watched hockey probably before you were born. I used to watch the Maroons and Bulldogs battle it out back in the 50's and have followed hockey ever since. You flippant remarks and misleading statements do not do justice to this forum and you have just proven that you can justify anything wit...

Re: Welland hammered 8-1

And by the way Port, the rookie backstop for Welland did not `play great' last night. What aspect of his game was great? Give the readers a break. He was adequate but did struggle. Check out his one game stats on Pointstreak. But, the way you look at hockey games and turn things around you can proba...

Re: Welland hammered 8-1

I appreciate Port's comments and I understand where he's coming from. Yes, I have seen Caledonia many times this year and they do mainly dump and chase and I'll stick to my guns on that. And blow out Ancaster, really? And the refs pick on Caledonia? Hardly! And regard to Welland being tired. I've se...

Re: Welland hammered 8-1

Couldn't wait to get the next series of ridiculous comments from Port. Ozzie is still a good coach and it has nothing to do with the Canadians `not responding' to him. The Canadians acted like they were flat out tired and couldn't skate with the Falcons. I suspect they are starting to feel the effec...

Re: Falcons come back to win game 1

The winning goal was not a result of Janzen freezing the puck and a `no whistle' by the fefs causing the Falcons to bang the puck loose. Tyler Jackson picked up a loose puck and did a wrap-around behind the net and scored on the far side. Janzen tried to knock off the net to stop the play but was to...

Re: St Catharines@Caledonia again

I was at the game last Saturday. The Falcons seemed quite amused by the `stand-in'. This wonderful move of solidarity by the Corvairs looked more bush league than anything else ..... but then again Coach Bullard is not very good at `head games' . He tries to pretend he is like Terry Masterton of the...

Falcons vs Corvairs

Just got back from game tonight in Caledonia. The Corvairs are a classy, strong team and gained a well earned 3-1 victory. I was shocked however to see the games 3 stars listed on Pointstreak and see all three stars were Corvairs and goalie Entmaa was first star. This suggests he kept Caledonia in t...
