OHA

What control does the OHA have over its leagues and teams? Do they have the ability to move teams around? Could they move a Caledonia, St. Catherine's to Jr A, or Grimsby, Milton to Jr B, or a Pelham, Buffalo to Jr. C ? A lot of the issues could be corrected with a few moves to put teams/programs wh...

Re: New rules for 2017-2018 season

I still believe the the best thing the GOJHL could do as a league is make one division with all the top teams " deep pockets" some may say. With 9-12 teams playing each other at the top level this league has to offer. They could have 8 teams in playoffs and have a league champion. The oth...

Re: New rules for 2017-2018 season

I don't understand why people have such a problem with 20yr players. These kids are still in a development stage. They make the league better, and help the younger players with their development. You don't stop learning because you turn a certain age.

They should have Brantford move over and play in the GHL playoffs, this way its consistent number of teams in the three leagues.

Golden Horseshoe turning into a bad joke

For the third time this season, a game has been forfeited. This should never happen in a junior hockey league. Thorald unable to ice a team for the second straight game. They should not have traded so many players away at the deadline. I am wondering if that was a cash grab and this team will not be...

That would be fun to watch. My guess is that would be hard to pull off. Getting the ice time to do would not be easy this time of year, with all minor hockey playoffs and play downs going on.

#10 looks scared out there. Only gets involved physically when a players in vulnerable position, or in scrums when the linesman are there. He is more of a liability out there.

Niagara Caledonia game

Was a little disappointed in the game last night, thought there would have been a lot more intensity. Looked like Niagara wanted no part of any physical play. If they want any kind of playoff success, they will have to compete harder than they did last night. At least St Catherine's skates and compe...

Re: Deepest Division

I wish the Shoe was a better division overall. Unfortunately they have 3-4 or the worst teams in the GOJHL and 3 of the best teams.
Here is Caledonia we will have to wait to the third round to get a good series. I wish there was another way!!

Re: Maroons officially add Brendan D'Agostino

Maybe some teams need cease to exist!! Unfortunately times are changing and the way things have been done for years may not work anymore. I don't like some of the money that seems to be involved now, but that seems to be the future of doing business in Ontario junior hockey. I just want to see good ...

Re: Maroons officially add Brendan D'Agostino

Have not been all that impressed with D'Agostina in the games I have seen against Caledonia, he had little to no impact in any of those games. Hopefully playing with better players around him he will be better. Can't argue with the points he has put up, but I don't see him being a game changer.

They know what it takes to win. Must not have been satisfied with what they had. It will be interesting to see what their defence looks like after the deadline.

Re: Disparity in League

Problem is the OJ wants nothing to do with the GOJ,and the OHA does very little to fix things. That's why I feel the GOJHL needs to fix this on their own. Instead of trying to be classed as JR A, make one division of the top three teams in each current division. It will be the best JR hockey in Onta...

Re: Disparity in League

It's a simple fix, as I have said on here before. Make one division of all the top teams, the deep pocket teams. It would probably be the best division of Jr. Hockey in Ontario, and have interest of the scouts for both OHL and NCAA. The other two divisions in the GOJHL can be development of feeder d...

Re: Disparity in League

I would like to see fixed player transfer prices, but I don't think that will level the playing field. I think the top players will still want to play on the better teams. I feel if the GOJHL had two or three divisions based on wheather you are a top level team going for championships or a team with...

Re: Disparity in League

I know the travel costs would be higher, but so to would the interest and better gates. Most of the top teams have the resources to cover those extra costs. If the league truly wants to be considered Jr A, put the best teams in a league/division against each other. I feel it would keep the better pl...

Re: Disparity in League

Just look at the standings in the divisions the last several years and you can see which teams can consistently deliver top level teams. I would love to see a promotion relegation system like English soccer. This would give teams the opportunity to move up or down according. I would much rather see ...

Re: Disparity in League

I have said on here before that the GOJHL should make a premier division with 8-12 top level teams. That way the so called money teams or top level teams would play against each other, and the teams that do not have the resources or the recruiting abilities would play against each other. This would ...

Golden Horseshoe Top Three in GOJHL

After watch many games this season, you could make a good argument that the top two or three teams are from this division. I have no doubts now that St. Catherine's is the only team that can skate and complete for 60 mins with the Corvairs every time they played, they never stop working. Ancaster is...
