Re: Chatham forfeits game
London lost the win because of the use of three 15 year-olds - one over the limit allowed to play in any single game.

2020/21 Season Cancelled
This morning Apr. 12, 2021 the GOJHL issued a press release stating that the 2020/21 season was cancelled due to on-going Covid issues. It sounds like they have finally realized that there was no time for any kind of season and are now focusing on the future.

Re: Cost For Teams
All teams in the West contract a bus company and a few have bought their own buses over the last 20 years to provide transportation for most away games (exception is where it is an easy traveling distance where players or parents can drive. When there was inter-conference play all teas had buses to ...

Re: GOJHL and their low standards
Back to the original thread of why the LaSalle-Chatham first playoff game was not entered properly and fixed as soon as some people would have liked. First, the LaSalle PS score keeper used the drop down imput box to indicate the tyoe of game and marked it as a regular season game instead of a playo...

Re: 19/20 Season Predictions
I was at the Maroons-Flyers game. Both clubs are strong. Chatham's Rychel-Robinson-Power line did all the Maroons' damage, but Chatham will have to depend more other players than just that one line. Both teams delivered some good hits - and for the Maroons the rookies did receive plenty of ice time....

Re: St. Marys
A history lesson on St. Marys franchise: In 1956/57 the Lincs along with Woodstock entered the OHA West replacing New Hamburg and Simcoe. (Between that tie and 1964/65 Stratford, Preston, Goderich, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg also played in the West.) St. Marys entered the Central B loop in 1964/65 an...

Re: Season Schedule
The GOJHL schedule is not usually done until mid-July. I would be very surprised if it has been completed. Most seasons (except last year) it is confirmed and finalized by the end of July and seldom posted until a week before Kick-off. Fans can only hope that perhaps there is a policy change and the...

Re: Waterloo, London Suthy Finals
The last time the Sutherland Cup went to game 7 was in the 2013/14 season when Caledonia beat St. Catharines. Prior to that in 2002/03 Stratford topped Thorold. Since 1980 only three other SC finals have went to 7 games: in 1981/82 St. MIchaels beat Sarnia; in 1997/98- Niagara Falls edged Elmira and...

Apparently the "in progress" Oct. 20 contest was suspended with 4 sec. left; a decision on that result or status of that game should be forthcoming.

The only time that has been done was: Last Game Team Shutout By Opposition At Home: 4-0 by Brampton Bombers (game 5, 1st round) Mar. 8, 2013 As for regukar season shutouts by opposition here are some: First Game Team Shutout By Oppos...

Falcons new bench boss
The St. Catharines Falcons wasted little time acquiring new head coach after Chris Johnstone stepped down recently. Former Cambridge head coach Dan Fitzgerald takes over. It didn't take the club long to fill the vacancy.

Poinstreak changes
Pointstreak has suddenly decided that they need to re-invent their webpage. Therree's some good and some bad things. I see they've added some things (like a page devoted to team stats like PP and PK plus ranking). Perhaps the larger font changes are warranted for those using smaller, hand-held devic...

Re: Shoddy PS work
Yes indeed and it is strange that the system actually allowed the PS operator to continue without an actual tied score. Very unusual that Sarnia did not notice the missing goal. I am sure this matter will eventually get corrected. Still, one would think that a good scoring system shouldn't permit su...

Shoddy PS work
For years we have all seen some really shoddy work done by Pointstreak operators - much of it is simply the fact that no-one seems to take accurate notes and proof read what goes online. Tonight's Sarnia @ Chatham game is a prime example. At the end of regulation PS reads Chatham 4 Sarnia 3. Game ov...

Re: Gojhl Rules and Regulations - new fan to Gojhl
Good basic coverage of some of the newer rules RocketGirl . One thing a parent or newcomer to the GOJHL should note. During the last 10 min. of the third period and afterwards (OT and 2 OT) if a player incurs any major it usually carries an extra game with it. Of course if it causes a severe injury ...

Re: Chatham
I have been in the media business for well over 30 years. Banning a reporter, or broadcaster without justification is insane. The Circus Tent is up and the show is in full swing in Chatham. Lately - within the last half year anyway - it seems that teams are suddenly banning media for no reason. The ...

Re: Chatham
Preventing local media from doing their job and providing updates and information about the team is downright disgusting. Mark Malone has provided accurate, responsible and fair Jr. B coverage for many, many years. Blocking coverage of the Maroons is an outrage and a disservice. Perhaps the GOJHL an...

Re: Off season news
The main reason Riggin was head coach was because he worked for free. Anyone seriously interested in the head coaching job will want compensation - that puts an onus on the club's GM and the Rockets' fundraising. So the question now is: experienced coach or one with little experience?

Re: Conference Finals: Leamington(1) vs London(2), Playoff Thread & Predictions
I don't think Mr. Holland's line about an apparent late game trip was intended as being objective - it was probably used to point out a critical juncture of the contest. If anyone had been at that game they would have heard coach Piroski screaming at the ref's at the end of the third about that lack...

Re: #3 LaSalle vs #6 Sarnia playoff thread
If anything RocketGirl's dad knows more about hockey than the average fan - plus extensive knowledge of game from being a long time board and staff member. Didn't hear Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye being played during the broadcast, but Sarnia was given a golden four min. opportunity to win the game and the...

PS boxscore craziness
Many of us who have followed Jr. B hockey online via Pointstreak are aware of the errors which occur. Some of those errors are just oversight, some are lack of proof-reading final sheets and others like tonight's boxscore Pelham @ Thorold show multiple goals - in this case 4 - being scored at the sa...

Re: Bussing players to road games. Is it worth the cost?
As to using a bus for travel - most Jr. B teams use the comfort of a coach bus to travel to long distance games; when teams are fairly close to each other, it only makes sense to save by having the players drive themselves or get rides to the location. As for Strathroy's radio broadcasts - a couple ...

One of the highest Jr. B games occurred when Leamington thumped the Windsor Bulldogs 30-3 (Jan. 1995); Windsor came with 11 players including only one goalie. That goalie was injured eight minutes into the game and after two frames it was out of control with the Flyers having scored 14 times. Coach ...

Wonder if Strathroy's prez knows anything about music? He definitely knows how to turn out the lights though. As a matter of fact he might even be an expert in that category! The Rockets and their volunteers deserve better treatment but the current road they are on is one leading to extinction. That...
