Re: NHL Draft, Top 10 Predictions
I really think Arizona really is the best fit for him. They have set themselves up nicely with young forwards. Strome Dvoarak, McInnes and Keller will be impact players when they arrive. look at them building patiently with the same mold used by Chicago. When he gets there (won't be this season) the...

Re: NHL Draft, Top 10 Predictions
Chychrun really disappointed, he dropped along way from being ranked #2 in the draft at the beginning of the season. Unless you were there you couldn't imagine how tense he was. His dad took it all in stride, Arizona got a two great prospects in Chychrun and Keller in the 1st round

Sure, sometimes when a player signs it is because they have a good feeling about the coach. Its really not that uncommon.GOJHLFAN-999 wrote:Hey Oglethorp, I don't understand what you are saying. Can you provide some more details or context.

I am not sure where I said the league taking control from an inept owner wouldn't work.

There are a handful of individuals that need to be extracted for the good of the league and the current owner is certainly one of them.

Maybe becoming a development league for the OHL might be.a good niche for the league. The US based teams have no junior leagues available for development.

Re: Off season news/ Player movement
I know there are some rumblings going on over this one. First off the Furlong announcement is just regurgitated information from the past releases. Matt Laberge is of more interest. This is a rare positive move in light of the way locals have been treated by the Rockets in the past. He is a heart an...

Re: What Should the GOJHL Do?
I agree very well written and detailed. I do firmly believe that that OJHL member clubs have discovered that the easier information on their league is to access, the more people will know and the more that people know will result in more scouted games, more D1 offers and more interest from higher ca...

Re: THE BLACK LIST
This should be a must read for any player not at the end of his junior career. I expect we will see some "pre-draft combines" mentioned as well. For the average player entering jr hockey the filtering process can be frustrating and very time consuming without the assistance of a trusted ag...

Re: Owners need to come up with a plan
Then you have the misconception of development for these guys that go on after their Jr.B careers are over, for example, Sarnia Legionnaires laying claim to developing goalie Andrew Masters who has received an NCAA Div 1 scholarship to Miami of Ohio. A quote from manager Bob Williamson "It's f...

Re: Chatham Head Coach
I don't think anyone learns less from his own mistakes than Mr Szekesy. Last year he axed Mark Davis who had a successful rebuilding season with a young team, namely the Sarnia Legionnaires. When will he ever learn that the grass isn't always greener outside his own fence. Actually I think we know t...

Re: Off season news/ Player movement
Both Riggin and Roeszler proved to be good young and upcoming coaches. It is a loss for the league to see them both leave so soon. What we are seeing in Chatham is the difference coaching selection can make. Chatham has lost a minimum of 4 impact players to date, anyone not thinking that coaching fa...

Re: Owners need to come up with a plan
I am not sure why the league would not have expectations that should be upheld. Transportation should be provided to all road games at this level. The team should arrive and leave together. There is also a safety aspect. Imagine a 17 year old having to drive himself home after an injury like a concu...

Re: Off season news/ Player movement
I can't and won't release team information until the team is ready to announce decisions publicly. That is grounds for ones services to no longer be required, and that's certainly not something I want to have happen. You can't release information that you do not have. As we noticed with the Riggin ...

Re: Owners need to come up with a plan
All 3 are JrC caliber teams. Parents on the bench or in the broadcast booth/players don't always end up with matching equipment because it isn't supplied/can't retain many players from one season to the next/players have to find their own transportation to road games/ team doesn't feed the players a...

Re: Off season news
Well this is an issue that we members of the forum have discussed a lot - how to keep GOJHL players in the GOJHL instead of jumping to Prov. Jr. A. The BCHL is different situation entirely, as we all know that is a much better league with a lot of benefits. Tier II was always seen as an "equal...

Good news for the Stars resigning Brookshaw. Looks like they maybe scrambling for some players this year with Hutchison Ferris and Dampier aging out. Re: Off season news
I believe the BCHL operates much like the OHL does. They are pretty much on the ice every day. That sure beats a lot of GOJHL teams that practice only twice a week. I realize some GOJHL clubs are on the ice for three practices a week, but most aren't. It only makes sense the more ice, the faster yo...

Re: Off season news
I sometimes wonder, is it the player or is it pushy parents that make them move to the OJHL. I know that we had a player go to the OJ for 1 season and then came back the next. When I asked him why, he said that he'd heard so much about the OJ that he wanted to check it out and see for himself what ...

Re: Off season news
The BCHL is the best Canadian Tier 2 league no question about it. It is a more skill based league as well. They enforce the head contact rule much more consistently than here is the one difference than many players moving to BC learn early. The CCHL is the league in the Ottawa area and they are not ...

Re: Off season news
I am sure the parents would need to be involved in any move to the OJ with what it costs the players to play there. Very few players have an extra 8-10K kicking around for a season of hockey. Things have changed in both leagues since the player RG mentioned went to the OJ. When he left the GOJHL was...
