Re: Sutherland Cup
Didn't expect it to be a blowout, Chatham played hard but the Falcons were just too good. Congrats to both teams. I agree with everything you said CC1 but I'll also add that was the best Falcons team I've ever seen in their history. On another note, Hamilton was the next best team in Ontario this y...

Re: Sutherland Cup
No team anywhere would throw a possible Cup winning game just so they can win it on home ice. Utterly ridiculous.

Re: Sutherland Cup
Good battle for the first two periods tonight but the Falcons pulled away with 3 goals in the third period including an empty-netter for the 6-2 victory. Chatham hasn't lost back to back games since the playoffs started but that will be severely tested on Sunday night.

Re: Sutherland Cup
After doing the math, the only way St. Catharines can lose out on first place is if Cambridge wins by 4 or more goals in tonight's game.

Re: Sutherland Cup
Easy victory for the Falcons over Chatham tonight. Chatham seemed to have packed it in once the Falcons jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead. Falcons went into cruise control for the rest of the game. Refs tried to wake up the Maroons by giving them a questionable 5 minute power play in which they scored ...

Re: Sutherland Cup
For some fans when the team you cheer for loses you start to "imagine" things that contributed to the loss instead of admitting that the team who beat you was the better team on that night.Welland Cougars wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 10:12 am

Geez, I guess the referee's must have missed all this stuff...they must have been favouring the Falcons. Dirtiest team ever?....lol. Be thankful the Maroons didn't have to play Caledonia. Just a question here. Did any of the Maroons come to the aid of their goalie after he had been "run" b...

Re: Sutherland Cup
It should be an eye opener for St. Catharines and Cambridge playing in Chatham Memorial. That is likely a completely different atmosphere than they have ever experienced before. We wish the Maroons well. The Falcons loved the atmosphere in the Chatham arena. Thank you Chatham fans for motivating th...

Re: Sutherland Cup
Story I got in Hamilton just before the pay offs started the Falcon's picked up a really good goalie from the Ice Dogs, this would have been a battle between Hamilton and Caledonia if the Falcons hadn't got their usual feed from the IceDogs Just before the playoffs started? MacLean played all seaso...

Re: Kilty B's vs Falcons
That was a great final series with two well-deserving teams battling right to the end. Nice to see that Hamilton was a class organization in defeat, unlike a team like Caledonia. I can't wait to see what the Mid-West and West champs can bring to the Sutherland Cup round-robin. It will be tough to be...

Also In typical Cali fashion, focused attempts to intimidate the smaller players was very noticeable. Such class act the Corvairs are! LOL.

Nothing surprising here. It's the Caledonia Bushleaguers after all.

Re: Port Colborne Coming Back To The 'Shoe
The latest that I heard was that they tried to get ice time in Port but that they couldn't for some reason. Also heard that the OHA wouldn't approve of the move. Why would that be? I have no idea.

Port Colborne Coming Back To The 'Shoe
I've heard from a couple of reliable sources that Port Colborne will have a team in the 'Shoe for the upcoming season. Apparently the Lockport Regals will be moving there because they have sold the team to different owners. Has anybody else heard anything similar or know any more details?

Re: Sutherland Cup Semi-Finals
Things we know for sure. London has now clinched the number 1 seed for the semi-finals and will play either Listowel or Niagara Falls. The 'Shoe winner, either St. Catharines or Niagara Falls, will be the number 2 seed and play Waterloo in the other semi-final.

Sutherland Cup Semi-Finals
Two of the final four teams have already been decided. London is in as well as Niagara Falls who are officially in either as 'Shoe champs or the wild card if they lose to St. Catharines. Waterloo on the verge of being the third team in with a 3-1 series lead over Listowel.

Re: 2nd Round Playoff Predictions
No way the Falcons will win in 4. Don't underestimate Hamilton. They are a hard working, good skating team with good goaltending. The Falcons, despite all of their talent on paper, can score lots of goals against the bad teams but against Hamilton and Niagara Falls, not so much. Still not sold on th...

Maybe Kenny Hill got tired of trying to buy Sutherland Cup championships, especially after they failed the last two seasons. When you're getting less than 150 fans per game it was obvious that the local Caledonia fans weren't into the Corvairs, especially when they only used a few local kids i...

Caledonia Bushleaguers SWEPT!!!
What a joy to behold!!! It was great to see a team like Listowel who "built" a championship team, over the last couple of seasons, as opposed to a team like the Bushleaguers who tried to "buy" a championship, like they try to do every year. Congratulations to all those involved w...

Re: Caledonia vs Listowel, Sutherland Cup Finals
Best game of the series so far by Caledonia but it still wasn't enough. They had the better scoring chances in the game and Wright totally robbed them for at least two sure goals. He was the first star of the game in my books. I'd have to think that this is the first game that Caledonia has ever bee...

Re: Caledonia vs Listowel, Sutherland Cup Finals
Despite being outshot, Listowel owned the Bushleaguers tonight. The goaltending for Caledonia in this series has been downright awful. The Cyclones outworked and outhustled the boys in black in this game.

Re: Caledonia vs Listowel, Sutherland Cup Finals
It looked like two fairly evenly matched teams to me in the first game. I don' think the week off helped Caledonia at all. They started slowly in the Elmira series as well but got stronger as the series went on. Still lots of good hockey left to be played in this series.

Looks Like It's Going To Be The Same Semi-Finals As Last Year
Barring any major comebacks, it looks like it will be the exact same Sutherland Cup semi-finals as last year. Caledonia vs. Elmira (the wildcard team) and London vs. Listowel. St. Catharines and St. Thomas have already been eliminated as possible wildcard teams.

Re: St.Catharines vs Ancaster thread
The Falcons are getting what they deserve for taking STUPID undisciplined penalties. Not that this is anything new because they have been doing it all season long as they led the GOJHL in penalty minutes this year. Now they've got a tough row to hoe and they have nobody to blame except themselves.
