Re: 2024/2025 GOJHL conference realignment
Interesting and probably long overdue. At least it eliminates the three team round-robin and we can get back to best-of-seven playoff series. Do they create new championship trophies for each conference now? With the elimination of the Mid-West conference I guess the Cherrey Cup will no longer be co...

Re: The Round Robin
I don't think it was terrible. I thought Walls and Donaldson did a pretty good job of "letting them play hockey", not that the players were getting away with anything. Fort Erie fans obviously weren't happy with a disallowed goal in the second period for the net being off before the puck w...

Re: Fort Erie
Wow!!! What a comeback by the Meteors. The players on that team just never quit. Surprised to see Caledonia blow a two goal lead in the third period, not once but twice in their last two home games of the playoffs. Good luck to the Meteors and I hope they can win the Sutherland Cup as the Golden Hor...

Re: St Mary's Lincolns
Wow!! 30 years since they last won the championship. 1994 was the one and only time that they decided to go with a six team round-robin playoff format. St. Marys Lincolns and Petrolia Jets from the West, Waterloo Siskins and Cambridge Winter Hawks from the Mid-West, and St. Catharines Falcons and Th...

What a great series from both teams!!! Fort Erie has a great young team which never quits and now they have the opportunity to win the championship on home ice. Go Meteors Go.

Re: Kilty B's vs Falcons
Kilty B's totally fell apart in the final 10 minutes of the game after giving up a cheap first goal to the Flyers. I thought all three teams were fairly close and no single team showed any dominance. Still find it hard to believe that after 6 round-robin games only one team (Stratford) won on home i...

Re: 2023 Sutherland Cup Format
The GOJHL has a playoff graphic that doesn’t keep up with the games played…if you want to find out the status of a series you have to go to the schedule, search the team and figure it out for yourself…I’ve never seen it done like that before. If you click on "Playoffs" you will see all th...

Re: 2023 Sutherland Cup Format
So they announce the first round schedule in each conference but no word yet on what format they will use for the Sutherland Cup. Wildcard or Round-Robin? I want to know as a fan and the teams would have to know because win percentage and goal differential may come into play. Why the big hold up?

2023 Sutherland Cup Format
What's with the league not announcing the Sutherland Cup playoff format this year? In year's past they would announce it well in advance of the playoffs. I'm assuming they will be doing so either Monday or Tuesday. Have to believe they will go back to the wildcard format with win percentage and goal...

Re: Sutherland Cup
Didn't expect it to be a blowout, Chatham played hard but the Falcons were just too good. Congrats to both teams. I agree with everything you said CC1 but I'll also add that was the best Falcons team I've ever seen in their history. On another note, Hamilton was the next best team in Ontario this y...

No team anywhere would throw a possible Cup winning game just so they can win it on home ice. Utterly ridiculous.

Re: Sutherland Cup
Good battle for the first two periods tonight but the Falcons pulled away with 3 goals in the third period including an empty-netter for the 6-2 victory. Chatham hasn't lost back to back games since the playoffs started but that will be severely tested on Sunday night.

After doing the math, the only way St. Catharines can lose out on first place is if Cambridge wins by 4 or more goals in tonight's game.

Re: Sutherland Cup
Easy victory for the Falcons over Chatham tonight. Chatham seemed to have packed it in once the Falcons jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead. Falcons went into cruise control for the rest of the game. Refs tried to wake up the Maroons by giving them a questionable 5 minute power play in which they scored ...

For some fans when the team you cheer for loses you start to "imagine" things that contributed to the loss instead of admitting that the team who beat you was the better team on that night.Welland Cougars wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 10:12 am

Geez, I guess the referee's must have missed all this stuff...they must have been favouring the Falcons. Dirtiest team ever?....lol. Be thankful the Maroons didn't have to play Caledonia. Just a question here. Did any of the Maroons come to the aid of their goalie after he had been "run" b...

Re: Sutherland Cup
It should be an eye opener for St. Catharines and Cambridge playing in Chatham Memorial. That is likely a completely different atmosphere than they have ever experienced before. We wish the Maroons well. The Falcons loved the atmosphere in the Chatham arena. Thank you Chatham fans for motivating th...

Re: Sutherland Cup
Story I got in Hamilton just before the pay offs started the Falcon's picked up a really good goalie from the Ice Dogs, this would have been a battle between Hamilton and Caledonia if the Falcons hadn't got their usual feed from the IceDogs Just before the playoffs started? MacLean played all seaso...

Re: Kilty B's vs Falcons
That was a great final series with two well-deserving teams battling right to the end. Nice to see that Hamilton was a class organization in defeat, unlike a team like Caledonia. I can't wait to see what the Mid-West and West champs can bring to the Sutherland Cup round-robin. It will be tough to be...

Nothing surprising here. It's the Caledonia Bushleaguers after all.

The latest that I heard was that they tried to get ice time in Port but that they couldn't for some reason. Also heard that the OHA wouldn't approve of the move. Why would that be? I have no idea.

Port Colborne Coming Back To The 'Shoe
I've heard from a couple of reliable sources that Port Colborne will have a team in the 'Shoe for the upcoming season. Apparently the Lockport Regals will be moving there because they have sold the team to different owners. Has anybody else heard anything similar or know any more details?

Things we know for sure. London has now clinched the number 1 seed for the semi-finals and will play either Listowel or Niagara Falls. The 'Shoe winner, either St. Catharines or Niagara Falls, will be the number 2 seed and play Waterloo in the other semi-final.

Sutherland Cup Semi-Finals
Two of the final four teams have already been decided. London is in as well as Niagara Falls who are officially in either as 'Shoe champs or the wild card if they lose to St. Catharines. Waterloo on the verge of being the third team in with a 3-1 series lead over Listowel.
